Discharge after embryo transfer

Hello,

Sorry in advance for the TMI but I had my first fresh embryo transfer 5 days ago and since yesterday, I have been experiencing white lumpy, cottage-cheese like discharge. It is odourless and I have no itching at all so am unsure if it is thrush? Could it be something as a result of the embryo transfer and/or the extra progesterone I am taking (PIO shot)?

Has any experienced this?

Also, if it is in fact thrush, does this need to be "diagnosed" before treated? I've never actually had thrush before so unsure if it's wise to proceed with over the counter meds if it's not confirmed (also could this affect the implantation process?!)

Thank you!

Update to the above message - it now has specks of brown and extremely pale pink in the clumps of discharge. Still no odour or itch.

Is this likely to be thrush?

My local pharmacy is closed on Sundays so won't be able to speak with anyone until tomorrow morning so if anyone has any idea, I'd really appreciate it!

I can only say I've never had anything like this with any of my transfers (successful and unsuccessful) and it doesn't sound quite right to me, but I've not been on the drugs you're on. Definitely speak to your clinic tomorrow.

@SErunner Thanks for the reply 😊

I managed to speak with a pharmacist today who advised thrush-like symptoms can be a side effect of ivf treatments due to changes in hormone levels and as I've no other symptoms, he wasn't too concerned. He also said the pale pink may have been implantation bleeding so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

The discharge seems to have disappeared for the last few hours but going to check with my clinic tomorrow anyway to be sure.

Quickly learning that this journey is never straightforward...!!

If the progesterone in oil is your ‘extra’ do you mean in addition to your natural progesterone or in addition to another progesterone product?

I sometimes had discharge when using progesterone pessaries or gel but it was pretty obvious it was the product. I do hope your pharmacist is correct about implantation but do speak to your clinic.

@EJ90 it's kinda hard to tell as it could be a number of things.

I'm on progesterone and I get this clumpy white stuff too. It often has a pink tint or sometimes orange but it's perfectly normal. In your case tho you might be best getting an assessment. Can you contact you clinic and tell them your experiencing this?
What kind of progesterone are you on

@EJ90 that's interesting and good news it's settled down! Positive vibes for you x
