Endometrial polyp seen... scared SCAN RESULTS ATTACHED

Hello,

I have a Hycosy done yesterday to check the patency of my tubes. However, when she did the vaginal ultrasound first she said she thought my endometrium looked thick for my cycle day and could be a possible polyp. Everything else looked normal, including my ovaries and tubes. When she began to flush the dye through, it wouldn't budge past my uterus which confirmed what she thought and that a polyp is causing an obstruction. This wasn't even something I'd considered and I'm petrified now. She has suggested a Hysteroscopy. Does anyone have any experiences to share please? I have attached the findings below

@Spinkyttc the hysteroscopy would be to take a closer look and hopefully remove the lesion. It will get sent to the lab. I had fibroid surgery, unfortunately my fibroids couldn't come out with hysteroscopy as they were very small so disappeared into the lining and weren't visible, given yours obstructed the fluid it should be able to be removed easily. A hysteroscopy is a pretty minor procedure which is usually done under a general anaesthetic, it's usually done as a day case and you're home the same day.

Morning,

I know how worried you must be, I remember feeling exactly the same!

The exact same thing happened to me. I had to go for a follow up scan the next month as sometimes polyps can go from month to month. Of course it was still there and I needed the hysteroscopy.

I managed to get one relatively quickly, the process was really easy and I was put out so I had no idea what was happening to me. They had a good look around and removed one larger and a few smaller ones too. So that was great.

Unfortunately I thought that would be the end to our road with infertility but we have just stared IVF so it hasn’t helped me get pregnant. But it’s meant I can now crack on with IVF and know they are not there.

I hope this helps x

Morning, thank you for taking the time to reply.

I am really scared and just want it all done now, I am an anxious person anyway so knowing I've got to wait now is horrible. I've been looking at going private as I just don't know how much waiting I can take.

Do you know roughly how big your polyp was? I've got a photo of my scan here

Aww I totally get that, waiting is the worst!

I really can’t remember how big mine was I’m sorry. All I know is that it was very straightforward and put my mind at ease that I had a good route around in there so I had more of an idea of what was going on inside of me. (A good service you might say)

Try to not worry, it will get sorted x

I'll try not too... I'm gutted as I really didn't expect this and thought I'd have the Hycosy and everything would be fine and could carry on TTC. So it feels like a massive step backwards

I understand I felt exactly the same, but it could be the reason why you aren’t successful so getting it sorted although it’s frustrating will be so worth it!

Hang in there, I know it’s rubbish…

We will get there eventually, I wish you all the best x

Yeah I'm trying to stay positive but my mind is in overdrive, I feel like I'm letting my partner down and that I won't be able to give him kids. I know that's silly and I'm pretty sure it'll all be fine but I've gone into worst case scenario mode! How long have you been TTC for? I initially thought it may be to due with a previous Chlamydia infection I had years ago that may have damaged my tubes, however when I had the scan she said my tubes actually looked normal, and it's this polyp most likely causing the issues. I just keep reading and seeing the C word and scaring myself. I'm aching for a child and whenever I see anyone announcing a pregnant my heart just breaks because it's what I want more than anything. I hope you got your BFP soon also x

I bet, you really can’t help but overthink everything! It’s awful!

Its been over 2 years for me now, I can’t believe it…

Me and my Husband have had our fair share of issues but we keep going as we both can’t imagine a life without at least one child.

Yeah the C word does make it very scary but polyps are very common. I really hope you can get it sorted soon so it can stop weighing on your mind.

This journey is so tough and hurtful. I hope we both get out time soon x

Hey op ! Wow your polyp is masssssive !!! But don’t worry most of them are , 99% non cancerous I mean ! Nothing to worry about !!! I am going through ivf at the moment too and had a scan and found a polyp 10mm , I had hysteroscopy privately straight after as nhs would have been very very long wait ! And I got the polyp removed 1 cm and few tiny ones too that didn’t show on normal scan . I just had it 2 weeks ago ! So I know your frustration as it has pushed me back again too ! Couldn’t do ivf until it’s removed .

Hey, I appreciate you probably didn't mean it to be insensitive but pointing out how big it is really isn't what I need to hear right now 😅

@Spinkyttc hey op sorry no ofcourse I was not trying to be insensitive ! I just remember mine being 10 mm and I thought it was big but I see in your notes yours is 1.7cm no Neally double the size, but like I said my biopsy came back perfect nothing to worry about and so will yours !! Don’t worry ( the size doesn’t matter ) it can be massive or tiny but the size doesn’t say anything :) I was just suprised how your polyp is taking over your full womb cavity , it’s just interesting to see , like real images of the scans :) I loved watching my hysteroscopy on the screen while I had the surgery as I am a curious person and these things interest me :) did you have problems getting pregnant ? If so then it’s understandable because the polyp is taking up all the space , so hopefully when they remove it your have success so very very fast and all will be totally fine !

I am ttc yes, for 6 months now with no success, would imagine it is this polyp that's causing the issues so I'm hoping once it's gone I'll be fine and can conceive fairly quickly :) I'm otherwise super healthy

I had a polyp taking up my whole uterus, it was removed under GA and I went home a couple hours after removal. It was honestly fine, it will be a relief to have it removed. Do you have any pain? They will biopsy it to check it’s ok (mine had dodgy cells but was confined to the polyp so again it’s not something to panic about).

MumZaara · 03/06/2025 18:56

I am so worried about the findings of my ultrasound.I have attached a copy.

Is there anyone who can help me understand what is going on? I already have crohn disease and on top this now! I am mentally tired of going to hospital. This is the latest results.
Should I give up now?
