Has anyone gone back to the NHS (private route) after seeking private treatment?

Hello, we have done 3 cycles with Create and feel that they have not listened to our feedback when the first transfer failed (we were comparing notes from the first cycle/transfer with NHS), leading to a second transfer failure. Our first transfer with the NHS implanted, but was not sucessful.

We are now exploring treatment abroad for another cycle; we have 2 embryos frozen with Create at the moment and it's not enough to warrant PGTA. I know NHS doesnt do PGTA anyway so would it make sense to transport the frozen embryos back to NHS for a FET? It is half the cost.

Thoughts?

Thanks for reading.

The NHS does private IVF...? How does that work?

Seriously - I am genuinely interested.

Could you try a different nhs clinic op

@MarmaladeMaggie I got back in touch with NHS and they said as it hasn’t been 12 months (just!) they could book me in for an initial consultation with my previous doctor for a fee. Normally I would need to go to the GP to get a referral - so definitely try that.

@Kris123499 I think it will be based on where your address? I’m not sure if the GP can refer you to somewhere else.

Ring and check with the clinics.
I had treatment at an nhs clinic * it's 120 miles) from me and didn't require a gp referral since our treatment was paid for by ourselves. Only for our nhs did we need a gp/ consultant referral but wed chose not to wait on nhs and rang the clinic ourselves as they offered private treatment

Hi @MarmaladeMaggie - yes the NHS does privately funded cycles. Normally cheaper than for profit clinics. Benefits are if you’ve had treatment there they can access your notes / files. Normally have consultants with extensive experience.

They have fewer appointments and waitlists can be longer to start cycle. I’ve had private, NHS private and NHS funded cycle.

@IslandsintheOcean We have been booked in for a follow up consultation for a fee (this is re. Embryos transport for a FET). In parallel we are also seeking 1 more treatment cycle abroad. Do you know if I can just book in for the initial
bloods/sperm analysis with NHS private?

@Kris123499 is that what u mean by ringing the clinics?

thanks!

@Twinkle00pea - it’s going to depend on their policy (and check your clinic will accept it) but I don’t see why not
