How long was your IVF process?

Hi all.

I've just booked my first NHS IVF appointment with CREATE Manchester for the beginning of December and was wondering how soon after could we realistically start treatment? Are we talking weeks or months? I understand it all depends on your cycle but after that first appointment is there a wait or could we potentially start on my next cycle?
This might be a completely impossible question to answer but I've not done it before so I don't know!!

TIA :)

Hi @waitingforourmiracle I can’t advise on the nhs funding side of it/if that take longer but we went private with Create Manchester. We had our first consultation last November and started first cycle of treatment in January. They said we could have started in December but we didn’t want to because of Xmas. We had both had a lot of test already done via our GP so that might have helped.

@LF82 thank you for your reply! As far as I'm aware all funding has been accepted, I think!
How did you find your experience with create?

@waitingforourmiracle overall they were really good. We had a 3 round cycle where they do 3 lots of egg colllections to bank embryos and then on round 3 a transfer. Mine ended up being a frozen transfer as had to have down regulation first. I had my transfer 6 weeks ago and we had a positive test. Very early days still but I am very hopeful. The doctors & nurses have been amazing throughout. All our scans were done by a consultant which isn’t the case everywhere I believe. Wishing you lots of luck & happy to answer any questions if it helps you x

@LF82 that's fantastic news, congratulations! Was you also with create Manchester?
Thank you so much, I'm excited to get started but also shitting myself! X

@waitingforourmiracle thank you. Doesn’t seem real yet. We have the early pregnancy scan next week.
I was with Manchester Create - Make sure you go to the Gail’s across the road 😊
My best advice would be to take it one step at a time and to expect the unexpected. I had a cancelled cycle and then had to have down ref for 2 months before the transfer. None of which was in the original plan. At the time it was so stressful but looking back the consultants knew what they were doing and it was for the best x

waitingforourmiracle · 16/11/2023 16:23

@LF82 how exciting! Ooh I'll defo try!
Thank you, I'm already being realistic with myself that it may take a few rounds! Did your cancelled cycle count as one of the rounds you paid for? That may sound really stupid but I'm not sure how cancelled cycles work! X

@waitingforourmiracle they will explain it better than me (it’s part of their process before you sign up) And it might be different on nhs but basically we had to pay for the drugs we used (buy them again for the next cycle effectively) and for up to 3 of the scans (£200 each) but not more than 3 scans. Not sure if that makes sense x

I was with nhs. You'll first need to sign consents.
After the first set, about 2 weeks later we signed our second consents. After that It was just about planning treatment. We started the following month .

MoonIightDreamer · 16/11/2023 17:03

On a timescale I think out consents were done early September and we started regulating my cycle late September and then I started stims 12th Oct. Yours may be different depending on your protocol

Hi ladies

how is everything getting on @ create Manchester? I feel particularly lonely in this journey as I haven’t told many people about it. Would be great if anyone wants to meet up for a chat / coffee (or is that a no go on Mumsnet?) 😬 x x

waitingforourmiracle · 11/01/2024 10:08

@Maria12060 so far so good! All my meds arrived yesterday so starting to feel really real now! I actually started crying when I saw it all because it was so overwhelming! Waiting for AF to start, due around the 21st but my cycles are so random who knows!! Where are you up to x
