ARGC experience with monitoring cycle

Hi all

I just had my first consultation at ARGC and they mentioned the possibility of a monitoring cycle before we start. I have 2 boys aged 10 from an IVF when I was your, and have been through 3 egg transfers in the last 2 years.
Is the monitoring cycle really necessary? Does anyone have experience with it?

Also, they mentioned optional immune tests and hysteroscopy. I had twins before and one blighted ovum last year and a hysteroscopy 5 months ago... so maybe immune system and another hysteroscopy wouldnt make sense, would it?

Any experience or comment is welcome, please!

Thanks

I’m also just about to start at ARGC and given that I’ve had numerous scans/bloods in the last year, including a few weeks ago, I pushed back on the monitoring cycle however they said it’s their policy and they want to check everything for themselves prior to starting any cycle. So unfortunately I think it has to be done. I’m also choosing not to go for the immunology or hysteroacopy. She said that if you have a normal ultrasound scan then there is still a 4% chance there is something else that they can’t visualise on it, I’m willing to take the risk as it’s another additional expense on top of the very expensive cycle! Good Luck! We’re waiting for some tests to come back and hoping to then start in Jan. Nervous about the daily blood tests/monitoring so interested to hear how you get on it you’re starting before then!

Understood, @Impatientlywaiting10 . Have you done your ultrasound and blood tests already? Do you know if the monitoring cycle is full with stimuli drugs etc or just monitoring? I was told to wait 4-6 months until my next period (which I dont have) and give them a call to have the first tests done.

Hi@Valentina1985 I have been with ARGC for several cycles. The monitoring cycle that I’ve been through involves a scan on the first or second day of your period and a blood test; I think then a few more blood tests during the cycle and I did not receive any stim meds during the monitoring cycle.

@silverbirchsw , I think this is what they meant. Was it helpful? How do you like the clinic?

Hi @Valentina1985
Yes I've been happy with ARGC we had one round of IVF in 2019 and had our son. Now trying for a second. It is intense and very busy at ARGC but overall happy and feel like we're doing the best we can.

So encouraging snd happy to hear you had your DS after one round, can I ask how old you were at the time?
