Steroids for Transfer - has it worked?

Hi

Not sure if there is anyone out there who's been in a similar situation.

I had some miscarriage screening done in readiness for our next egg collection, following a chemical pregnancy in August. I have been told I have high Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies that can increase miscarriage, so I will be on steroids from the egg collection in readiness for a transfer. Does anyone have an experience of this or a similar situation for an auto immune condition that needed steroids or something similar? Are there are other remedies if this wasn't to work?

@Sunflower360 amazing results!! I was on max dose as my AMH is 11, I had my first cycle cancelled as I didn't respond very well but I had a total fluke with my AMH when it was tested in May it was randomly 20 so I was put o. a lower dose. I'm not sure if my dose was too high and my eggs were no good or if it's my DHs sperm, although numbers look good on paper not sure if there is more going on with DNA frag so he's on impryl now, omega 3 and vit D in the event we need to do another cycle in March/April. IRS awful as we are private and I'm just worrying if we get no blastocysts as it's always a possibility. I'm at my witts end.

I'm hoping the steroids on the next transfer is the answer 🙏🙏

@Sunflower360

Hey! I had my transfer on 10th January and it worked, I'm 15 weeks now, still can't believe. Definitely think the steroids did the trick, I've been on 20mg for first 12 weeks then weaned off, due to finish Saturday.

How you doing? X

Sunflower360 · 04/04/2024 19:35

@NatW2021 congratulations that's great news! Were you on 10mg twice a day? I'm on 5mg day twice a day. Was there any other meds you were on? I had a natural FET last month that was a BFN, got my 2nd transfer tomorrow. Added aspirin this time, but embryos are not PGTA'd so not sure which, if any, are normal. Suppose will find out eventually

@Sunflower360 I was on 20mg in one dose of a morning, the clinic initially prescribed 10mg but I requested a higher dose based on what I researched. Hard to know if the steroids helped or if this embryo was just genetically normal and the first wasn't. I did a natural FET both times so no other meds other than progesterone.

So sorry your first transfer didn't work it's truly devastating. Did you try steroids on your first transfer?

Sending you lots of positive vibes. Xx

@NatW2021 yep was on steroids last transfer, could just be one of those things. I'm 38 so likelihood will be it could have been an abnormal embryo. If you don't mind me asking how old are you? Just wondering if TPO is age dependent too

NatW2021 · 04/04/2024 20:22

@Sunflower360 I'm 36 now 35 at time of egg collection. I don't think TPO correlates with age. What is interesting though is that I read that people with thyroid antibodies are likely to have elevated nk killer cells (not everyone as some people with Hashimoto get pregnant no problem) hoping this transfer works but if not maybe ask for a higher dose in future. They normally treat elevated nk killer cells with prednisolone. X

@NatW2021 thanks for sharing, will see how this FET goes and then will ask about increasing the Prednisolone dose if it doesn't work

@NatW2021 I have noticed the steroids have stopped my hayfever....my sinuses are usually so irritated by now but I've had nothing. So its doing something, just hope it's doing more than just suppressing my sinuses 😅
