Hi all,

I feel really silly writing this but it's stressing me out!
I have my transfer booked in Wednesday morning and have been on Utrogestan vaginal capsules 4 times a day.

Tomorrow I will be at work and will have to insert 1 there and I'm stressed! I can't exactly lie down after and what if it pops out?? I think I'm just scared that if it doesn't go in, will it mess anything up because I've missed a dose?

Thanks x

In my experience, Progesterone pessaries do pop out when taken vaginally, unless you lie down for a bit. Can you take it rectally instead? This is what I was instructed to do on embryo transfer day, and it was actually a lot less messy than taking it vaginally. I think taking it rectally would be better for absorption if you can’t lie down.

Wishing you all the best for your transfer!

I know people who have used cyclogest rectally but my clinic specifically told me that Utrogestan is for oral or vaginal use (and oral use not generally for IVF).

I did however have to use utrogestan multiple times per day and if out and about I didn’t lie down afterwards and it was okay. If you’re worried, depending on your office if there is a first aid room go and lie down for a few minutes.

Oh, yes I took cyclogest. From a quick Google I thought it was the same for Utrogestan - pls ignore!

I've done multiple rounds and used progesterone vaginal for each one - never laid down to insert them, never laid down after and I can honestly say one has never popped out, nor had this ever crossed my mind! You don't need to put them in too far, just comfortably inside. It'll be fine :)

Thank you everyone! I overthink waaaay too much!
