Severe pain after having progesterone injections into the buttock

Dear all

I successfully managed to have the progesterone injections into my bum. I used a cold patch before and after to avoid having bruises (I found this trick when I first had the clexane injections and they used to leave bruises). I also massaged the area to ensure the oil.

After a few hours of my first injection, my buttock started hurting and the pain was propagating to the whole leg. I also got unrested feet.
No bruises, no lumps or anything just pain. Not only does it hurt when I sit or when I stand but I can not even walk easily. The pain has since got worse.

Today is the third day. As have been altering the buttock cheek I have the injections into, today I had the second injection into the same cheek as the first day. It is now 21:17 and I am in excruciating pain. I went to the fireworks in our area and on the way back I couldn't even walk. I am seating on the sofa and I am using a hot water bottle. However my lower leg hurts as well.

If one was to ask me out of 10 how much my pain is I would say 12 and I have never even said 10 as I can cope with pain well.

I have two questions:

  1. Is it normal to be in so much pain and if yes, how can this be possible as my body right now is in stress and inflamed from the pain. The body is meant to be calm, relaxed in preparation to the embryo transfer. I am very worried that this pain will impact my autoimmune system (inflammation & stress impact quite severily the autoimmune system) which as a result will impact the implantation and attach again the embryo. I have Hashimoto, high NK cells, thyroid antibodies so my autoimmune system is already not well and the high NK cells have already caused me 2 miscarriages and one falied implantation,
  2. Can I take ibuprofen for the inflammation and paracetamol for the pain as I think I read I can not take ibuprofen if I am taking anti-thin blood medication.

Any advice or ideas would be so much appreciated.

If your saying your pain is 12 out of 10 then you need to go to a&e immediately and not be asking other mumsnetters
