IVF and covid

I am due to start my first cycle of IVF with ICSI on 11th November and unfortunately tested positive for covid yesterday. My OH is negative so far and I'm staying away from him. Is it likely my cycle will need to be cancelled? Any experiences welcome, am so sad about it 😔

Ugh! How frustrating this must be. I don't have any personal experience, but this question was actually covered in a recent fertility podcast I listen to. Episode 193 https://www.fertilitydocsuncensored.com. They say it's best to cancel the cycle and wait a few months as you may not respond well to the meds.

Thanks @coffeelover2023 that's interesting and does make a lot of sense. Waiting for my clinic to give me a ring to talk about it 🙃

Hi @Sweetie13 - may I ask what happened for you in the end? What did your doctor advise?

In the same position myself at the moment 😔

Sweetie13 · 30/12/2023 16:24

Hi @lollosmash so sorry to hear you've caught covid on the verge of ivf 😔 hope you're doing ok.

Our IVF round was postponed until Jan (they said there needed to be 7 weeks between positive test and egg collection and due to the Xmas slowdown they wouldn't be able to do the Dec cycle).

By some absolute miracle however it turns out I conceived naturally just before catching covid and am currently 11 weeks 🙏

Have you spoken to your clinic? Wishing you all the best X

Amazing @Sweetie13 ! Congrats! Wishing you a smooth and chilled out pregnancy.

@coffeelover2023 thanks for sharing that podcast, it was very useful. For anyone else who wants to listen, the question about covid and IVF starts at 5.15. It seems that there isn't much data available, but anecdotally two of the presenters had experienced unexpectedly unsuccessful cycles with people who later revealed they had recently had covid. They had varying opinions on how long to wait though - mentioned everything from 6 weeks to 6 months!
