Frozen transfer

I've had a fresh transfer and have some embryos left.
I'm unsure of the protocol of frozen transfer.
What day in your cycle do you start treatment ? what medication do you take and how long for?

I'm just trying to work out timings and how long you have to prepare for the transfer.

Also do you need bloods and scans done again?

I understand that not everyone is the same but will hopefully give me an idea.

Sorry for all the questions but I'm lost with it all.

Thank you x

Hi, there are two main types of frozen transfer, medicated or unmedicated. With an unmedicated or natural transfer, you track your ovulation and then transfer in line with your natural cycle. The only meds are usually progesterone support, but some clinics don't even do this. I don't think this is an option if you don't have regular cycles.

I've always done medicated, where they give you medication to prevent ovulation, and oestrogen to help build your lining. Then once your lining is thick enough, you start progesterone and transfer 5 days after that. Some clinics will do a full downreg for medicated, mine do a short protocol instead - meds start on day 2, transfer is usually day 19 if the lining is ok.

Great thank you.
I have no idea what my clinic will do.
I have regular cycles and I'm pretty sure I ovulate every mth.

So it's roughly 21 days from day 1 for transfer ?

Do you still need all the bloods doing again?
It was last year when I had them done last.

@DaisyBoo123 I am part way through a natural cycle FET right now. I had to be scanned again on day 9 (and day 11 and 14 but that’s because my body wasn’t playing ball), and let just test with OPKs until I’ve got a positive test for ovulation which incidentally was today. I’ve rung them today and they have said most likely will do the transfer next Tuesday, so 6 days after ovulation. Other than the scan, I haven’t had anything retested this time. Good luck with your treatment!

I didn't have to do all the bloods again, but I did have to have some. I can't remember which ones though I'm afraid.

If you do a natural cycle, it so l will depend on the length of your cycle, but for medicated, yes, about three weeks.
