Diet during IVF - eggs and dairy?

Hi there, I hope some experienced IVF mumsnetters can help me! I’m due to start downregulation next week so I’ll be stimming from early / mid November. I’ve been following a healthy Mediterranean type diet for the past year and I’m now wondering if there anything else I can tweak diet-wise to hopefully help make this upcoming cycle a successful one. My main question is about dairy: is full fat milk and yoghurt better for IVF than reduced fat dairy? I’ve read mixed things: on the one hand, it seems full fat can be better for high protein intake; one the other hand, some sources say reduced fat dairy is better for IVF for less saturated fat. Does anyone know any more about this? Also, is it too much to eat eggs every day to increase my protein intake? Any advice will be so gratefully received - thank you!

Hi we seen a fertility nutritionist last year who recommended full fat dairy especially during Stims and after. Recommended a pint of full fat milk each day which I split between breakfast and evening

@try9ng gosh that’s wild, my doc told me to cut out dairy completely! 😣

@Plainsong85 thank you, we are in our two week wait now. Good luck with your cycle x

@Blossomofhope oh really. There is so much conflicting advice out there. She told us it was like an extra fertiliser during Stims, she gave me a receipe for a smoothie to have for breakfast but told DH to only have skimmed milk. It's really a minefield of what you should and shouldn't too when you research it

Oh no, @Blossomofhope! Your doctor's advice to cut out dairy is the kind of mixed message I'm worrying about! But then so much of what I read mentions protein being key and full fat dairy is a good source of protein so ... who knows!

I have everything crossed for you for your two week wait, @try9ng x

There is no evidence changing your diet affects success with IVF. You should aim to have your BMI in normal range and the usual NHS advice of well balanced diet, low processed. But don't feel guilty eating a if chocolate or having the odd pizza. There is enough to worry about with IVF you don't need to add unnecessary stress in too! Personally I'd be steering clear of any clinics suggesting diet can have any effect on outcome... Good luck.

Thank you for your reply, @SErunner. You’re certainly right about stress levels and us having enough to worry about! Wishing you lots of luck with your treatment.
