Hi all I was just wondering is there any advise out there on what sort of a diet one should have during this process. I understand the elimination of drugs alcohol smoking etc I have IBS and my diet isn't super healthy. I know some people recommend drinking milk or eating Brazil nuts etc is there anyone whose had a positive IVF/ICSI who can give me a rough idea of their eating habits. I'm hoping i get many responses as il get an average of what I should incorporate 🤣

There's no decent scientific evidence it makes any difference in all honesty. Nor is there much to support giving up alcohol or caffeine. Beyond your BMI being in a healthy range and eating a well balanced, low processed diet as per standard NHS recommendations you don't really need to do anything. Personally I don't drink alcohol or caffeine but I've not bothered adjusting my diet as I eat healthily anyway and my weight has been stable for over 10 years. I still have treats regularly - not worth the stress of denying them! We had our daughter via IVF a few years ago and are currently trying to conceive a sibling.

I spent hours researching this and it’s littered with money making gurus without any scientific backing.

I cut out alcohol, caffeine and just made sure I was eating 3 good meals a day. Whereas before I enjoyed wine, lots of tea and would often skip breakfast. I got pregnant on the first transfer which sadly ended in a MC but not related to diet.

Good luck!

@Sherr33 Jumping on here to get some advice too! I'm also about to start, I'm not massively overweight and my BMI is in range but I don't have the most healthy diet, also after a few weeks of busy weekend involving alcohol I'm defiantly going to be cutting down now! Good luck with your cycle 😊

@waitingforourmiracle thats me! Minus the alcohol. Haha but I eat so much desserts and chocolates honestly I feel like I'm not the healthiest person. But if I cut all that out then I know I'd definitely be a miserable one! Plus around this time of year with it being so cold I love comfort eating haha. Do you have a start date? I'm having my forms signed etc on the 27th 🙈 im so nervous I feel sick thinking about it.

@Sherr33 I can take or leave sweet treats, I just usually opt for a quick tea after work which isn't always the best option! I need to get in the habit of eating breakfast too, I've never had breakfast for as long as I can remember, it sounds stupid but it hards to now put it into my morning routine!! Exciting!! I got my letter from my consultant yesterday which he also sent to the fertility clinic so hopefully should hear from them in the next few weeks!! I am shitting myself to be honest haha!!
