AMH 7.4

Hi all,
Has anyone conceived with a 'lower than average' egg count?
I recently had an AMH, which was 7.4, which I was warned is lower than average for age 35.
Have you successfully got pregnant in a similar situation?

My AMH is (was) 3.6 at 39. That's pretty low. I'm 17 weeks pregnant.

IVF clinics are full of women with a low AMH/AFC. I mean, of course they are! If we all had normal values most of us wouldn't need IVF.

At 35 you've very likely got some good quality eggs, even if you have fewer left than the 'average' 35 year old woman.

Good luck ❤️

Hope you are ok - it can come as a shock to find it is lower than average ᴖ̈
I have an AMH of 5.4 at 33 and am pregnant after a first successful attempt at IVF - i had only a few eggs but all really good quality. Fingers crossed for you -All you need is one good egg ◡̈

Hey both,

Thanks for your replies, great to know that you are both pregnant, huge congratulations!

More of a back story, my wife carried our DD who is almost 5, we inseminated at home using donor sperm and now trying for me with the same donor.

We went to the fertility clinic for a fertility 'MOT', scan was normal.

IVF is not really an option for us at the moment, due to cost and I have a high BMI (actively trying to lower it)

We have decided to try 3 more months if insemination and re-evaluate what we're going to do.

Sorry OP, I misunderstood your first post. I always assume IVF on this board..!

I had my AMH first measured when I was 38 and it was 7.1, which was fairly low. We'd been trying to conceive naturally for nearly 2 years then. But we did have other problems - my partner had antisperm antibodies which can make things more difficult.

What was your antral follicle count? Apparently this is more indicative of success than AMH. I think mine was around 7 to 8 (for both ovaries in total) when I was first scanned, which is pretty low.

The clinic we went to didn't seem very thorough, in fact we had some slight issues.
They only said the scan was good, not going into any detail about follicles or anything else, I feel that I should have got more from it.

We will keep trying for next couple of months and see how it goes.

Thank you 😊
