Just a little thread for anyone currently balls deep in an ivf cycle

37 (38 in Dec) TTC baby number 1.
We've just started our first ivf ( icsi) cycle.
I did my first injection last night. Terrified of the process ahead but also incredibly proud of myself and how I've handled it thus far

@MoonlightDreamer go girl! I'm so excited for you! There's thus thread I keeping looking at but haven't commented on yet as I haven't actually started my cycle

FET/IVF/ICSI - October 2033

Sherr33 · 13/10/2023 15:04

I think the 2033 is a typo 🙈

But there are a few on their who have just had their first injection or are going through their cycle etc just thought if you're interested or would like to speak to people in similar boat. Very supportive x

Lauralozzle · 16/10/2023 08:41

I can confirm the 2033 is a typo! Didn’t spot it until I had posted it!

Feel free to join us, we’re a lovely bunch and a few are on their first cycles. We’re all knee deep in IVF at the moment!

Sherr33 · 16/10/2023 12:52

@Lauralozzle im always nipping in out. Im the silent reader as I've not started my cycle yet. My appointment with the nurses is on the 27th to sign paperwork 🙈 so I keeping upto date with how everyone is getting on. Makes me feel a little less scared.

Lauralozzle · 16/10/2023 13:28

@Sherr33 Oh, it won’t be long for you then to start! Best of luck!

cbear1989 · 22/10/2023 21:14

Hope you don't mind me joining :)

After what feels like loads of unsuccessful clomid rounds... I've just started my first IVF round on a short protocol.

Second day of injections today, hopefully should have my first scan Tuesday or Wednesday to see how my little eggies are getting on. Feeling quite excited to see what it might bring.

Am sure it's fine but anybody else have a strange irrational fear that you're somehow not injecting properly haha will feel better once I know something is happening next week hopefully

How's everyone getting on since last post?

Sending lots of luck to everyone going through it xxx

MoonlightDreamer · 22/10/2023 21:22

@cbear1989 haha yes, honestly ive found the anxiety of self Injections so bad. I think it was further fueled by the fact I was never shown how to administer and had to learn off YouTube

Good luck on your cycle. Ive done my last day of stims ( thought it would never end) and my trigger shot is due tonight

@MoonlightDreamer oh wow how exciting!! Sending lots of luck for next week for you, keep us posted! xxx

I've still got lots of self stabbing days ahead haha although I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be, I can't wait to see what's going on in there! xxx

cbear1989 · 26/10/2023 21:51

Hey @MoonlightDreamer, how are you feeling, and how have you been getting on this week?

I started my two lots injections as of yesterday with fyremadel, fun eh! 🤣🤣 have a scan tomorrow and Monday and I think they're thinking my egg retrieval should be at some point weds-Fri next week. Daunting but exciting xxx

MoonlightDreamer · 26/10/2023 23:24

@cbear1989 wishing you all the best of luck. I hope your scan goes well. Feel free to give me an update. I've love to hear how everything has went for you.
I've had a particularly tough time with everything.
I had my retrieval on Tuesday and I've spent the past few days in bed recovering. I'm still very tender and swollen but thankfully it's improving a bit day by day. Today was the first day i was up and about a bit. They had to use some manual manipulation to move my ovaries into position for the retrieval which wasnt exactly pleasant and it's left me a bit bruised but overall the whole experience wasn't too bad.
I'd certainly do it over again In hope of an end result. To be honest I milked the situation for all I could making the other half wait on me hand and foot 😆
I retrieved 7 eggs in the end and we now have 3 embryos hopefully developing as they should 🤞 I might be having a transfer tomorrow depending on how they are doing and if I'm feeling upto it.
I have to attend for a scan tomrorow to check my ovaries so I guess well assess the situation after that.
Don't worry yourself. I found the retrieval the easy part ( and I was awake through it) its all the worrying afterwards about the embryos that really drive you crazy.

Just try and relax and enjoy it

@MoonlightDreamer wow you've had a busy few days!!! that sounds tough though poor you, sorry it wasn't straight forward and you've been suffering. 7 eggs and 3 embryos is amazing though, so chuffed for you!! hope you feel better and are upto your transfer soon, got everything crossed for some luck for you!! def keep me posted with how you're getting on next week!!

just got back from my scan. not too bad, my eggies are growing but being a touch lazy but my lining is already almost 8mm which is good. She's taken bloods today and is calling this afternoon to update me and confirm if I need to up the menopur dose to give my lazy eggies a little nudge. potentially this time next week could be having my retrieval though which is exciting. not feeling the fyremadel though, slept terribly since starting it and felt so sicky and heady since yesterday, but it's bearable for the end result, hopefully!!

Take care of yourself (and 100% keep milking it 🤣😘) xxx

MoonlightDreamer · 27/10/2023 11:33

@cbear1989 yes well that's a positive that doses can be altered throughout treatment. It can vary so much from scan to scan. Those slow growing follicles can catch up very quick. Eat plenty of protein. Some of my follicles were 22-24mm at final scan and they gave me an extra dose of stims before trigger. I wonder if it may have over matured my larger follicles. I came out of it with 4 suitable for fertilising in the end.
As of today embryologist is happy with our embryos and is running all 3 of them onto blast stage so my planned transfer is not until Sunday now 🤞hopefully at least one can hang on

@MoonlightDreamer that's such a good result you must be so pleased! I have around 10 or so growing I think, not sure we will get the 3 embryos but I'd be so happy if we can. Eggs for lunch today🤣🤣

will think of you on Sunday!!! take it easy and hope the subsequent two weeks aren't too long and awful. plan some nice stuff in your diary to try and distract you a bit! xxx
