Transfer window/cycle lengths

Can somebody explain this to me in simple terms - treat me like an idiot because I’m struggling to understand šŸ˜‚

First FET yesterday. Was due on Tuesday but was given extra 2 days because my lining wasn’t thick enough, eventually got there by last Friday so given the go ahead for fet.
So transfer Thursday - on my ā€œregular cycleā€ my period would be due on Sunday so 3 days after the transfer. Whereas my fresh transfer was 6 days before my regular period (which came as usual).
Do the timings not matter as much during ivf cycles? I was on 3x progynova (eventually upped to 4) from cd 2/3 for FET.

Thank you 🩷🩵

I think it's unusual or a coincidence that your period still came on time after your fresh transfer as I thought the progesterone they put you on essentially prevents it but maybe that's just bad information. I guess egg collection is ovulation in a fresh transfer so your period can still arrive a normal number of luteal phase days later.

With frozen medicated transfers you don't tend to ovulate, therefore your period isn't "due" at the same time as normal because usually it's ovulation that determines when your period is due but that hasn't happened in a frozen medicated cycle.

So the timings matter less/not at all when relative to your natural cycle.

Congratulations on your transfer 😊

How much did your lining thicken in those two days, do you know? Had you already started progesterone despite your lining not being thick enough?

I had my first FET scan yesterday and my lining isn't thick enough so they're giving me an extra progynova a day (4 now) and re scanning me on Monday but I'm nervous it won't get there by then.

@IVFKinster Thank you! I think there’s just so much information my brain can’t handle it šŸ˜‚

So my first scan (Monday) was 7.4mm, no change to thickness on Wednesday, I was then put on an extra progynova (4 a day) and rescanned Friday and it made it to 8mm.
I then started progesterone on Saturday.
What thickness are you at the moment? šŸ¤žšŸ»šŸ¤žšŸ»

Honestly period math I hard enough in natural cycles without adding IVF meds and embryos!

I was at 6.9mm yesterday. It's good to know yours grew an extra .6mm in two days as mine needs to do double that in 4!

The earliest my transfer will be is w/c 23rd but they won't ever give me a date until my lining is right. 1.1mm feels like a lot of growing needed!

It really is! I know the clinic know what they’re doing but it just boggles my brain.

I have everything crossed for you - it’s good they gave you an extra progynova straight away - hopefully that does the job. I was quite down after they said my lining wasn’t thick enough (we have MFI so naively assumed it would be straight forward for me) but I’m glad they wouldn’t go ahead without perfect conditions.

During medicated cycles your body doesn't ovulate at all. Your ovaries are shut down and the artifical estrogen and progesterone from progynova and pessaries/injections replace the hormones your body would produce naturally.
Your period will come after you have stopped the progestorone if the you get a negative test result. Hopefully that won't be the case! Good luck!

I question my clinics choices all the time. Not because I don't have faith in them. I just wish I had more control than I do!
I definitely spiralled after they said my lining wasn't thick enough. We have both me and my husband's problems so everything feels like a hurdle. Nevermind. We will get there in the end!

Fingers tightly crossed for positive news for you šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

Thanks @Mistymist that makes sense - I’m too hung up on my natural cycle so need to get that out of my head.

@IVFKinster I didn’t realise I was a control freak until all this!
