for anyone that is in the same situation... i rang the clinic the following morning and was told to come in still for the booked time slot and they would have to see if they could squeeze me in anywhere a bit later in the morning. there's some publication that say collection can be somewhere from 34 hours after trigger. but there are more studies that say the evidence shows it should not be less than 35 and up to 38 hours, and that 36 is the optimum. most clinics go for 36 and mine was 35 hours (maybe because mine was the natural modified protocol). so me being too early for egg collection (i.e. only 33 hours, 45 mins after trigger) was not ideal at all. but there is wriggle room if you or your consultant are stuck in traffic and the collection procedure is delayed a bit. in the end the consultant didnt want me in at the scheduled time because 33 hours, 45 mins risked the eggs not being ready. due to other collections also waiting, the best they could do was push me back by about 45-50 minutes (so 34 hours, 30-35 minutes after trigger). i was very grateful for anything! the consultant was rushed though and i dont think he spent the time getting all the eggs that could have been collected (he didn't spend time measuring, just went off the scan 3 days prior and said he would just take the eggs that were measured to be the right size on that day 3 days before). it's the best i could get, but my fault in the end. all the detail is for anyone ever reading this that might be in the same position!
