FET Cycle Oct/Nov 23

Hi,

I have started down regulation with Buserelin and im getting the worst headaches most days. Has anyone else suffered headaches with this medication?

This is my first FET cycle.

Just a bit of background -
ICSI April - cancelled due to covid
ICSI May - one fresh day 3 embryo BFN
ICSI September- Freeze all due to risk of OHSS.

I didn't have many side effects with any other stimulation medication but the Buserelin is pretty awful!

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?

Hi @LuckyPineapple I am doing down reg with Prostap and so far have had hot flushes as night but no headaches…. I have a scan early next week where they will decide if we can start the process for a FET. It’s my first one so have no real idea of what to expect…. How are you feel besides the headaches?

LuckyPineapple · 05/10/2023 21:49

Hi @LF82

I've felt pretty miserable this week to be honest. Trying not to feel sorry for myself 😬 I've had some hot flushes as well and really dry eyes although I think the dry eyes could be part of the headaches. Spent all yesterday evening in bed.
It's hard to know what to expect with a FET first time. I have my baseline scan mid October.

Hopefully you get the go ahead next week 🤞🏻 It's nice to chat with others going through the process as well. It can all be quite daunting.

Oh you poor thing, the side effects are horrible aren’t they. Though my consultant said to think of it like at least the down reg is hopefully working. It’s so good to speak to others going through it - others just don’t understand x

True! Hopefully it is working. We put our bodies through a lot but need to remember the end goal 👶🏻
You are right! No one really understands unless you're in it. It becomes a way of life.

@LuckyPineapple i have never thought of it that way - but you are right it’s definitely a way of life. I need to do some late research on any foods etc that are good to eat when preparing for a FET! My clinic just said to keep taking my vitamins

LuckyPineapple · 06/10/2023 13:32

It's all consuming! I've tried to do a little research on what to eat and found that apparently Beetroot and ginger are really good. Particularly for your lining and implantation. My clinic has really just recommended plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, protein, good omega fats, nuts and seeds. All those things good for you but sometimes just not what you want to eat. I feel so guilty at the moment because all i want to eat is junk. Probably because I don't feel the best. I recently bought the IVF diet book for research but haven't really got reading into it yet. I'll let you know if I find anything else.

What sort of vitamins do you take? I use a pregnacare conception, fish oil omega fats, CoQ 10, and NAC. Hopefully they are doing something. Feel like if I was shook I'd rattle 🙈

@LuckyPineapple I will work out how to get beetroot & ginger into my food 🤣 I think I read pomegranate juice is good too but need to check that. Vitamin wise I am on exactly the same as you bar the last one! Not heard of that before - was it recommended?

LuckyPineapple · 06/10/2023 20:57

I throw it all in a smoothie with some apple juice and tastes relatively ok. Beetroot is quite strong though. Yes heard about Pomegranate and pineapple but then listened to a podcast recently about these and Beetroot has been scientifically proven. I doubt it'll do any harm to use them all. Full of vitamins.
NAC is N-acetyl cysteine, an amino acid. Said to help with repairing cell damage and inflammation. It was recommended by a friend who was struggling to conceive. She ended up pregnant without fertility treatment but nothing to say NAC was anything to do with it. I'm just giving it a go anyway. At this stage prepared to try most things!

@LuckyPineapple I might give the smoothie making a go! Yeah I think eating well & lots of fruit/veg etc can only be a good thing. Will take a look at NAC too- definitely get what you mean about being prepared to try anything!

@LF82 good luck for your scan this week. I hope it all goes well and you get the go ahead to start 🤞🏻

@LuckyPineapple thank you for thinking of me! Had the scan & bloods first thing and my consultant just rang to say the tests are ok to start the process. So now it’s oestrogen tablets from tomorrow to grow my lining. How are you doing? Have the headaches gone? X

LuckyPineapple · 09/10/2023 19:58

@LF82 that's great news! I'm sure you're relieved to get started. I'm not too bad, thanks. The headaches seem to have subsided these last few days, which is great. Feeling a bit more like myself x
