FET potentially going to be cancelled because of thin lining

Hi all,

Just had another appointment with another round of bad news. My lining is still looking thin even after another week on an increased dose of Progynova (previously biggest measurement they could get was 6.5, today it was 7.2). They’ve taken bloods and are going to ring me tomorrow to see whether we continue or just cancel the cycle.

I feel like I already know what the outcome is going to be but I’m just worried that this is going to be an issue that doesn’t resolve and that I’ll never be able to do a FET (probably being ridiculous but hey ho). They said my lining was fine for my fresh cycle (ended in a BFN) and I’ve also been pregnant 4 times (unfortunately lost all before 12 weeks) but I still just feel so hopeless. Does anyone have any positive stories about success after a cycle cancelled for similar reasons? Or any advice? At this point I feel like I’ll take anything.

Thanks in advance x

I'm sorry this is happening. It also happened to me 3 times last year. This was after a textbook medicated FET in October 2021 but I had a MMC. I also have recurrent losses. It really broke me.

I tried higher doses of estrogen but my lining got worse and lost its triple layer. Eventually I did low dose stims and my lining got to 7.8mm which they decided to trigger and transfer after on. Unfortunately my embryo deteriorated and it was a bfn.

Big hugs it was really hard going ❤️

No advice but this is exactly me today. Was scanned Monday and lining was 7.4, same measurement today. They’ve upped my progynova and scanning again Friday to see if it’s thickened, I’m not sure how much it can grow in 2 days 🤷🏻‍♀️ if not then this cycle will be cancelled.
This is my first frozen transfer, my fresh didn’t take but no comment on my lining from that one, so feeling a bit down about it all today.
Hope your lining decides to thicken up ☺️

@VenusStarr I’m sorry you’ve been through this as well ♥️. It’s just so hard isn’t it. I’m a catastrophiser as well so I’m firmly of the opinion that it’s just never going to happen. I hope you don’t mind me asking but are you planning to do any other cycles or have you had enough? Either is completely understandable and justified.

@ScullyLyf I’m sorry you’re going through this as well. Although 7.4 isn’t miles away so I’ve got everything crossed that upping your meds makes a difference! I’m just waiting for a phone call from the clinic today to either see if they give me patches or cancel the cycle. At this point, I don’t even know what the preferable option is my head feels that muddled. Hope you’re feeling ok today 🤞.

@JLB234 fingers crossed for you, I’m the same, spent all evening looking at what I can do to improve my lining for next time so can’t decide whether I want them to cancel and I’ll be really good and prepared for next time or hoping it just goes ahead. Yesterday was probably my downest day about it all and can’t see it ever happening for us and then I remember I’m right at the beginning of our journey so have a long way to go and need to sort my attitude out😂
Hope you get answers today, and if the cycle is cancelled hopefully they’ll give you some good advice on what to do going forward. I always feel better if I have a plan or something to work towards.

@JLB234 thank you. We took 6 months off ttc and ivf. All ready to get started and my dh got really poorly. We're just looking into one final ivf round but his sperm motility is really bad due to his illness. Feel like the universe is trying to tell us something 🫤 I hope we can do icsi but just waiting to speak to our consultant. I've put him on all the supplements!
I feel like we're nearly at the end now and I mostly feel ok about it, we can't do any more than we have.

Hoping you get some positive news 🙏 xx

@VenusStarr so sorry to hear about your husband. I hope he is on the mend at least. I totally get it-it’s so hard. My marriage has been massively impacted by it and you’ve got to give yourself a break at some point. I’ve heard that impryl is very good for sperm health although very expensive unfortunately xx

@ScullyLyf I’m the same. However, sometimes it’s so hard not to be defeatist as it feels like the world is against you. They’ve put me on patches for a week today so we’ll see how that goes. I’m not holding out much hope though if I’m honest. Hope you get good news at your appointment tomorrow 🤞

I used vaginal viagra for thin lining issues. It seemed to get me an extra mm. I'm not sure how many clinics use it though

ScullyLyf · 06/10/2023 17:49

My lining just about made it to 8mm so transfer is still on. Been through every emotion this week.

Hope you got some good news/answers this week @JLB234

I might be too late to respond on this, but I have found that 2 friends in the same position were able to get a better result on lining from doing lots of walking and acupuncture given the blood flow increase helps with thickening. I've had issues with thin lining and when I was recommended the same it did increase.

Hi all, I know this is an old thread but if anyone sees this, just wondered how you've got on?

I had a natural FET cancelled in January as my lining was too thin and then I ovulated despite being on some progynova. 2nd attempt, modified natural, is likely getting cancelled next week, I've been on loads of oestrogen for about 3 weeks and my lining got to 6.4 and then yesterday was down to 5.6. They're aiming for 7 but said they'd consider lower for me.

I've got a history of thin lining, have had 2 hysteroscopies to resolve scarring from a surgical TFMR, and I'm really starting to feel at my whits end with it all and like it's just not going to work. Not sure what my clinic will suggest next but I'm feeling so down and exhausted

VenusStarr · 15/02/2025 13:20

We've ended our journey now (living childfree) @Orangewillow but low dose stims worked for me to get my lining to 7.8mm after 3 cancelled FETs. So I did 75iu and upped to 150iu with a trigger and got a healthy triple later for transfer.

It's soul destroying to have cancelled cycles but I hope trying different approach helps and you have success x

JLB234 · 15/02/2025 21:11

@Orangewillow sorry you’re going through this. It’s absolutely awful. In the end, we used estrogen patches and I got an extra 1.5mm in a week. Apparently they think that my liver (not quite sure how 😂) was too healthy and was basically processing the Progynova before my womb had access to it. The FET also resulted in our little girl even though I was at 8.2mm rather than the 9 that they wanted. Really hope everything works out for you ♥️.

@Orangewillow the FET I was having here ended in a chemical, but I’m currently 36 weeks from a following transfer. Details are a bit fuzzy but I’m sure they changed type of medication & I started on a higher dose of progynova from the beginning.
I really hope it works for you, best of luck at getting your lining thick enough 🧡
