Private blood tests for CRGH prescreening

I am doing my IVF with CRGH. They have given a big list of prescreening tests for IVF. Has anyone done it more cheaper outside ( and accepted by CRGH)

It comes around 800 pounds just for the blood tests 😨

What bloods are they asking for?

Hi.

I am with CRGH and got a lot done through my GP. Some results came back 2days later, some 1-2 weeks. GP emailed results on letter headed paper - all fine with clinic

Husband and I had to have the Hep B, Hep C, HIV, chlamydia & rubella (last 2 for me only) tested before treatment. Mine cost £230 and husband £170.

Clinic recommended I got TSH and Vitamin D tested through GP on NHS - used a letter the clinic sent me to request it and GP was happy to do.

I didn't have any others on your list but hopefully that help? I do think standard ones can be requested through GP to bring the cost down a bit. £800 is a lot! X

Should add that I'm not with CRGH but I'd definitely ask them to provide a letter and check they'll accept NHS results for some. Dont see why they wouldn't for Vit D and TSH x

Thx for your message @Rubyroo1984 . May I know whether your GP agreed to it without any letter from CRGH or the fertility clinic? My GP is not friendly at all, would be helpful if there are pointers I can use to persuade them

Thx @Lebe14 . Did you do your blood tests in your fertility clinic or any private test center?

@biscuitsndtea apart from Vit D and TSH we did the others via our clinic x

Had mine done at the GP, although depending how good/well organized your GP is, you may be waiting a while. They messed up DH forms so didn't book his for the same time as mine, meaning we'd have either wasted a month before starting or had to pay for his privately directly with the clinic, which is what we did in the end.
CRGH also did not accept the way my GP results displayed the HIV results as it didn't specifically distinguish between HIV A and B. I asked them to amend the results letter, but the lab won't do that so I had to re-do those separately and pay CRGH for them as well as Vitamin D (which my GP wouldn't do) and one of the items in the Thyroid profile which apparently they missed and I didn't even realise until I shared the results as I wouldn't know exactly what's included in that.
So in essence, try your GP, but if you're in a hurry, be prepared to it taking a while and check everything with a fine tooth comb to ensure they test exactly everything CRGH wants to see and the results are outlined in the format they want to see them if that makes sense.

@biscuitsndtea yes my GP agreed without any letter from CRGH. Have you had any fertility treatment through the NHS? I ask because I went straight to private because I didn’t want to wait, however still had a NHS consultation and they told me I could get most blood tests done through them so that’s what I told my GP

Rosequartzz · 03/10/2023 11:49

Check with 'The Birth Company' they're very thorough and results can be the same day

biscuitsndtea · 04/10/2023 13:59

Thanks for the replies. My gp agreed to do most of the tests. Hopefully will get the results on time
