8 eggs collected 6 mature only 2 fertilised

hello!! I’ve just had an egg collection with ABC on Friday and got the call on Saturday to say 6 were mature but only 2 fertilised. We have male factor issues - looking for some hope or help with why only 2 out of 6 fertilised and the chances that one of them will make it to day 3. Have been told we have to do freeze all as oestrogen was high :(

Quick update from me. Had another round - 6 collected, 5 mature and 1 fertilised. Went on to day 6 - now frozen. Preparing mentally for one last round.

I did my first round in Jan, 7 eggs collected, 4 mature, 2 fertilized with ICSI, day 2/3 looking ok but neither made it to blasto (one too low grade to biopsy). Husband has low morphology, i have low amh

I've consulted with multiple doctors since at various clinics, the general consensus seem to be that 1) failing to develop beyond day 3 and low fertilization might point to a male factor, so we've now done DNA fragmentation test to check this; 2) if not male factor, then it might be issue with egg quality 3) ICSI is not necessarily the best option if it's just low morphology. I was asked to do DNA fragmentation and HBA binding tests to assess further

Also one doctor recommended calcium Ionophore and time lapse imaging to maximise probability to making it to blasto

Hey everyone!
Hope it’s ok to join - had my first egg retrieval today - it’s all such a wild ride!

They collected 6 eggs so will hear how many fertilised tomorrow. I’m 34 with an amh of about 5ish but a year ago my amh was 12 😭

Really hope this cycle is successful!! Best of luck to you all 🤞🏻🤞🏻

My amh situation is very similar to yours, similar level and also halved within the past year... may I ask how old are you and which clinic you are at? I'm 35 ...

I’m 35 also but was 34 when I wrote the last message. I’m based in Ireland

Got it thank you! I saw that for your second go your number of eggs collected was the same as the cycle one year ago, did you re-check you AMH and AFC this time and how are they compared to a year ago?

When I tested my AMH last month (4) , it was less than half of what it was last year, and my AFC in Jan this year (6) was less than half of what it was last year. And I just did another scan this month and my AFC was only 3 so half of what it was in Jan... slightly panicking as they seem to be declining rapidly even month to month

So my two rounds were only 3 months apart. And my lower amh result was just before both of those rounds. Yes my numbers were similar for the second round but second time I ended up with 2 blasts Instead of 1. Transferred both and got bfp but miscarried a few weeks later. Although my amh declined, my afc stayed around 7/8. I think amh is mainly important for determining stims dosage but obv declining suggests good to take action. I’m pretty sure amh can fluctuate a bit though - I don’t think I’ll test it anymore cause it just causes stress.

That's prob wise... I need to stop obsessing over it as well. Thank you

@EggsFrozenNow @Blossomofhope Hi, just wanted to share my experience with 5ish AMH with you in case its of any use, as it seems we are in similar boat.
I'm 36yo and 5ush AMH. I just had my first transfer from an NHS funded cycle. They gave me 300mg Gonal F because of low AMH but I also started taking some supplements from January to improve egg quality. I ended up having 17 eggs collected, 16 were mature, 12 fertilised, and 8 day 5 blastocyst (one fresh transfer and 7 more to freeze). We couldn't believe this. I'm not sure if the supplement helped or not but this was just so unexpected for us and the clinic.

Hey @mlruirod these are amazing numbers!! Big congrats :) May I ask which supplements you took? And if you did an AFC scan together with the amh test before, and if so how many follicles did they see initially?

mlruirod · 25/03/2024 19:12

@EggsFrozenNow I actually can't remember whether I had a AFC scan done but don't remember my doctor talking to me through those results, so maybe I didn't have one.

The supplement is called seidivid ferty4

Unfortunately they don't sell it in the UK (A private fertility clinic in Spain advised me to take it- I'm spanish and went to the clinic fir advise while visiting my family last summer) so I had to order it online from a Spanish pharmacy
