I'm a 38 Yr old Doing short protocol.
Apparently the focus is to give my eggs a gentle boost and not create many eggs vs long where the goal is to create as many eggs as possible.
I'm also on the low dose 150iu bemfola
I'm just worried we won't have any embryos.
Can you tell me some of your stories.. age . Dose . How many eggs collected and made to blast. Thanks

Hi @M00nknight I had a natural modified IVF (milder than mild IVF), was 6 days of 150 Gonal-F from day 6 of cycle. I ended up getting 5 eggs (would have been 6 possibly but they could not access one of my ovaries on EC day), 4 were mature, 3 fertilised through ICSI (the 4th degenerated through the ICSI procedure), and we got 1 x good quality day 3 and 1 x good quality day 5 embryo in the freezer. We have another 2 cycles so hoping for another embryo if possible.

Mild aims at getting more eggs but the aim is quality over quantity. Having been through a max stims which led to failed fertilisation I would say mild IVF can improve outcome, but that is just from personal experience. Especially as natural modfied was only meant to collect one or two eggs, so getting 5, 4 of which were mature, was definitely a bonus in that cycle (only got 2 mature in my high stims )

35yo with low AMH. Did short protocol on 450 Bemfola. We got 4 eggs. 2 were mature and both made blasts on day 6. They're average quality x

I'm just in the TWW following a short protocol cycle. Got 5 eggs, all were mature and all fertilised, but only two turned in to Day 5 blastocysts. One was transferred and one is in the freezer. Both are good quality. I started on 150 Bemfola, but follicles were growing slowly so they increased it to 300. The consultant said that scientifically, it was a good cycle on short protocol - but i never know if they just say that kind of thing to everyone!

40 yrs old - short protocol with 450 gonal&menopur - 10 retrieved, 8 mature and fertilized, 2 blasts. I could have frozen more on day 3 but due to my age I preferred to let them develop to day 5.

Hi all hope you’re getting on well
@Sunflower360 how did you get on with your remaining cycles if you don’t mind me asking? :) I’m on a similar protocol as you and waiting for my second cycle now , out of a 3 cycle packing x x

Sunflower360 · 19/01/2024 23:42

@Maria12060 I'm good thanks, just waiting on the green light to do a FET as I needed a Hysteroscopy after my 3rd Create clinic collection, so fresh transfer was not an option.

These were my results at Create so far;

1st cycle: 5 eggs, 4 mature, 3 fertilised and we ended up with 1 x day 3 & 1 x day 5 blastocyst frozen

2nd cycle: 2 eggs, both fertilised, 1 x day 5 blastocyst embryo frozen

3rd cycle (1st go): abandoned due to no response to stims, likely due to doing back to back cycles and my hormones were high (likely why I ended up with a polyp and needing a Hysteroscopy, IVF hormones can be a cause of it due to increased estrogen levels)

3rd cycle (2nd go): 7 eggs, all fertilised, 5 x day 5 and 1 x day 6 blastocyst embryos

So all in all 7 x blastocysts and 1 x day 3 frozen out of 3 collections with an AMH of 4.3 pmol in the summer. Appreciate some people can get this with one collection with higher AMH but its better than I could have hoped at this stage with my AMH

Now waiting on FET, none of the embryos have been tested so don't know if they are any good just based on the morphology as it does not necessarily set out if it is chromosomally normal...but not sure I would want to test, may just prefer putting them in and see what happens

How are you getting on?

Sunflower360 · 19/01/2024 23:44

Ought to add cycle 3, we ended up trying mild IVF from natural modified as there was some indication more could be collected, which thankfully was the case

Maria12060 · 20/01/2024 21:08

thank you @Sunflower360 that is really amazing!

I am 36, and was on mild protocol. in my first cycle in November they got 7 eggs which gave us 1 day 3 and 2 day 5 blastocysts.

in December I tried to go for a back to back cycle but they discovered a cyst for the same reasons as your polyp- high oestrogen levels and I was put on birth control for a month to bring my levels down to normal. Waiting for AF to arrive and to then get scanned to see if the meds helped get rid of the cyst. fingers crossed it has and I can proceed with my second cycle.

do you mind me asking how old you are and if you did anything different in your third cycle? I’m trying to walk everyday and getting acupuncture :)

what do create do to check you’re ready for a FET? Do they check uterine lining and progesterone etc? Wishing you all the luck in the world for your FET! Keep us posted :) x

Sunflower360 · 20/01/2024 21:19

@Maria12060 that's good you've got 3 in the freezer already.

I hadn't done anything differently in cycle 3 than the other 2 cycles but I had already made a few changes before starting on my first cycle, such as supplements, high protein/low carb diet, acupuncture and reflexology.

Create check lining and Progesterone in the FET process, the consultation will set out what protocol I'll be on.

Good luck with your next cycle!

Maria12060 · 20/01/2024 21:24

@Sunflower360 Thank you!
it’s definitely better than I expected with a very low AMH :)
I am also leaning towards not testing the embryos - will see what Create suggest x

Sunflower360 · 20/01/2024 21:26

@Maria12060 sorry you asked my age, I was 37 in collection 1 and 2 then turned 38 before collection 3
