Slow response after down regulation.

Hi all, I’ve started my first ivf cycle after four failed iuis (two were cancelled before iui day). We are 34 and healthy but ttc for two years with only one chemical and no success stories. 🙁

So I took downreg pills for a week (estrofem) and then started the jabs (pergoveris 225). On the fourth day (3jabs taken so far) I had a baseline scan and there were about 6 follicles but all small. Doc advised to increase dose to 300 so I did. I was still spotting at this point.

I had a scan two days later and spotting had now stopped but only one follicle had grown slightly and the rest were the same size. I was shocked. My lining was only just above 4 but I did have a triple layer pattern. The nurse has said it might just be early still since I was spotting 2 days ago. But if not they may cancel it at my scan in a few days.

So now I don’t know what to think. In the past for iuis I’ve responded well on gonal f and seen much more progress by this stage. I don’t know has the down reg just had a bigger impact than it was supposed to.

It’s hard not to feel so stressed. Ivf in general is so hard and trying to manage it around work etc is tricky. I was hoping this cycle would be the end of this ttc nightmare. If anyone has any experience of something similar or words of advice/insight please share. ❤️❤️

Down regulation (long protocol) doesn't work for everyone, especially if you have low AMH and/or high FSH. My clinic put me on long protocol and my ovaries didn't wake up for weeks, they shouldn't be shutting down ovaries that aren't working their best. Next cycle I did short protocol (so no down regulation), all follicles grew and I got 5 mature eggs.

It sounds like this one will probably get cancelled, definitely do short protocol next time, you'll probably get a much better result 😊

Thanks so much for your response. I do have low amh but fsh is fine. I so hope they don’t cancel. I guess I’ll know for sure at tomorrows scan.
