IVF Round 3 after recurrent loss

I'm starting my injections for my 2nd egg collection (3rd transfer) tomorrow after 3 losses (1 natural, 1 fresh transfer and 1 frozen transer). I've never made it passed 7 weeks (although one was a MMC that I had a D&C for at 10 weeks).

Is anyone else on their third round after loss?

Does anyone have any success stories?

Does anyone have any tips on what to do that helped them? or I might not have thought of to try?

I have PCOS, I'm 32, been TTC for 2 years and RMC pannel hasn't shown anything out of the ordinary.

@TTCaftermultipleloss firstly I am so very sorry for your losses. It's so very hard 💔 I send all the love, hope and strength your way going into this cycle x

I'm not in exactly the same position but I start medication today following a MMC in May. It broke my heart and we took a break afterwards. This will be my 5th egg collection so it's daunting. We have only ever done one transfer. Our first 2 NHS cycles led to no transfer, and we then signed up to a 3 cycle embyro batching package. We were lucky enough to have 5 embryos by the end of cycle 2 so used our included transfer then. We now hope to get another one or two embryos to add to the 4 we have and then do PGT-A testing prior to hopefully an FET.

I have struggled with the fear of going through another cycle but the organising (we live 6 hours away from our clinic and it involves being away from home from home from Cycle day 4) has kept me busy. I'm sorry I don't have any tips but here for a hand hold x

@JX3303 Thank you. Your journey sounds tough, I'm so sorry for you too. Wishing you luck for this next cycle. If you don't mind me asking which clinic are you with? and what is your reason for PGT-A testing?

We have 4 embryos left from our first cycle but wanted to do another egg collection as we are hoping (getting very ahead of ourselves) to have multiple children, so thought banking might be a good idea. We are also able to have unlimited transfers on the NHS but the waitlist for egg collection is over a year, so banking some privately seemed sensible before transfering all over to the NHS if this next transfer fails.

@TTCaftermultipleloss it's sad that so many of us have such difficult journeys. There is a lot more to IVF than I first knew that's for sure!

Thank you. We are with Create in Manchester. I have low amh and ovarian reserve so as I didn't respond well to max dose stims with NHS we thought we'd try something totally different, and Create offer mild IVF. It's lower stims and lots more monitoring. I will be 36 in March so I think just after the MMC and seeing as we pay for every transfer now it makes sense to test the embryos before another transfer.

That's great that you have 4 more embryos and unlimited transfers on the NHS. I only had one egg my first NHS and devastatingly none the second so we weren't eligible to do another cycle with my own eggs.

Some advise I would have actually if you don't already, is to utilise the counsellor your clinic offers if you think it may help. It's not for everyone but I have found it invaluable. I have spoken to my counsellor for the last 2 years and having someone who specialises in fertility to talk to really helps me know my feelings are valid and normal xx

TTCaftermultipleloss · 18/09/2023 17:21

We are with ABC in London which is part of Create so I'm on the low stims too. I think we are able to move over to create for PGT tesing if we decide to do that.

I didn't like the consellor at all for my first MMC it felt like all she did was want to get me off the phone, so I opted out after the second. Maybe this time it might be worth trying agin though.

@Jx3303 sorry forgot to @ you on my response

@TTCaftermultipleloss ah yeah, our clinic is both Create and ABC. It's amazing you have access to that via IVF, sadly my NHS scotland clinic don't have as many protocol options so I was just given the conventional max dose my 2 cycles.

I'm really sorry to hear that the counsellor made you feel that way, it must have been awful. Was that one through the early pregnancy unit and bereavement specific? My one is through the fertility clinic (still the NHS one who kindly still talks to me even though I'm now private) and she's amazing. I also once attended a miscarriage association pregnancy loss support group online that I found helpful xx

@TTCaftermultipleloss how are you getting on lovely? X

TTCaftermultipleloss · 25/09/2023 18:26

@Jx3303 so sorry I misseed your messgae. Not too well if I'm honest, I want for a scan today to check progress and of the 13 follciules only one has grown to a decent size. I have had blood test and increased my dosage. Feeling very defeated already. After everything I was pretty positive and didn't even imagine this scenario. How are you doing?

@TTCaftermultipleloss i thought I’d join the conversation as I’m in a similar situation 😢 sorry to hear your current cycle isn’t going that well, and about your pregnancy losses. It seems the most cruel thing when we go through so much and then have that hope taken away, I wish having fertility treatment reduces the risk of it but of course that’s not the case …

ive had three miscarriages so far, fresh, frozen and another frozen from my next cycle. All of them I’ve lost at around 6 wks. Hopefully getting my bloods done next month and having generic testing on the miscarriage too. Seems like after that testing is done there isn’t really anything else? I don’t think the NHS will pay to generic test our remaining embryos but I haven’t asked.

@Jx3303 sorry to hear about your MMC as well x
