Varicocele Embolisation

I'm currently researching Varicocele Embolisation and would greatly appreciate some support and feedback regarding the choice of accessing the procedure either through the neck or groin. I'm feeling anxious as I struggle to find a standardized procedure documented online. Has anyone had experience with Dr. Kunal Khanna at Wexham Hospital in Surrey or Dr. Archie Speirs based in Reading Hospital, Berkshire? There's limited information available online, and I'm eager to determine the best option in terms of long-term success, be it through the neck or groin. Personally, the groin seems like a reasonable choice, but I'm not a medical professional, and my main priority is achieving the best possible outcome. Your insights would be immensely valuable. Thank you all!

Hi @SocialPR my DH had an embolisation privately at Wexham Park almost 3 months ago (so just waiting to see if it helps!)
The surgeon went through his arm down to the vein

@Natty2 thanks so much for letting me know. Really appreciate it as I so worry about the DH. How is he feeling after the op? Any certain after care?

@SocialPR he felt a little uncomfortable for a few days, and just had to take it easy, no heavy lifting etc
He felt fine in general though and no issues since. Just hoping it's made a difference!

@Natty2 thanks for the heads up. When will you know if it has made a difference? Hoping that it has work for you both xx

Following this thread as my partner is hoping to have this. Is it different to the surgery?

SocialPR · 09/10/2023 21:52

@Natty2 how are you getting on xx

@SocialPR

We had some disappointing this week as my husbands SA came back weirdly worse than March, despite all the changes and vitamins etc.
The morphology went up though from 1 to 2.5%
We're really confused with how much the other factors went down though as they were above average before! We think it might be because he was so unwell when he took the test and also it's been 3 months since his embolisation, so 3 months ago the sperm may not have been producing well due to the op
We're going to get another one done again in a few months
