How did you "Just Stop" trying

Been trying for over a year now and no luck. I track using LH strips and BBT as I've got irregular cycles. Dr is referring me and my Fiancé to the fertility clinic but this is likely to take up to 18 months (UK NHS). I like to think I'm chilled out about it but it is on my mind alot.. I think I just thought it would be so easy to conceive when we first started trying.. I was so naive.

I've been told by friends and from reading comments online in forums that when people just stopped trying that's when it finally happened..

How is just stopping trying even possible 🥲 how do people do it?

Hi @TheGoddessFreyja im sorry to hear that you have had no luck so far 😞.

i wanted to respond and let you know that I was referred to ivf on nhs and had no waiting time at all so hopefully yours will be much speedier than the 18months you listed above. (I am in London).

I had one fresh transfer which ended in mmc and then a fet (I am now 16 weeks pregnant 🤞🤞).

I totally understand what you mean by it being impossible to just stop trying and hoping it will happen I never understood this. But before my last fet I wasn’t feeling positive so I decided to make a plan about what I would do if it didn’t work again. For me this was going to include taking a 6 month sabbatical from my job and going travelling around South America with my husband. And I actually started to get quite excited about the planning that it took the intensity off ivf a bit - maybe this helped I don’t know…..but maybe something for you to consider.

if you cannot have children what else would you like to do? And then work towards that (even if it’s just reading up, making mental plans and getting a bit excited) whilst also still trying. Hope this is useful. Xxxx

I gave up at the end of 2021. I’d recently done a course with plans to take my career in a new direction. Started to look at new jobs and applying for things when I found out I was pregnant 3 months later after a 9 year struggle with unexplained infertility. No idea why it happened when it did. My body also seemed to reset itself and I ended up pregnant again 4 months postpartum after thinking it was a miracle to conceive once let alone twice.
