Hi all, I am about to start my first cycle of IVF in a few weeks but unfortunately tested positive for covid today. 😔 I am concerned this would impact the outcome - any advice welcomed. Thanks x

There is no evidence covid affects the reproductive system. So it shouldnt affect anything, particularly if you are covid free by the time you start your cycle.

Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone else wonders the same.

I have been advised by my doctor covid does not impact women but it can impact men. Another SA is being carried out and if he has been impacted, we will have to wait 3 months before we can start treatment. 🙁

This also applies to fever.

There's alot of information out there regarding how covid can affect female fertility too , specifically the menstrual cycle and how it damage the egg also but during covid , literally everyone I know had it and they were getting pregnant left right and centre.
I will add tho , my OH had covid during treatment and had another semen analysis and it did affect his sperm. It had antibodies

@MoonlightDreamer Thanks for sharing the above. May I ask what happened to that cycle then? We're dreading his SA results as keen to start asap due to low AMH and AFC. 😞

@bloss0mx what happened in your case? Conscious covid is high atm and preparing for the possibility that it could happen before starting a cycle of IVF

bloss0mx · 24/09/2023 19:52

@Sunflower360 His numbers were reduced but as we are doing ICSI, the embryologist said we can still go ahead. I got my base line scan tomorrow 🙏

@bloss0mx hiya I hope you don’t mind me reaching out. Did you have Covid whilst on your first cycle? What did the nurse advise to you x

bloss0mx · 29/11/2023 22:44

Hi @SocialPR - I was negative by the time I started the cycle so I was able to proceed with it x
