Hi everyone,

My question is, who prescribes things like Clomid or Letrozole or Tamoxifen? Is it the GP or do you need to be referred to a fertility clinic?

Entering cycle#10 TTC baby2. Age 32.

I’ve tracked ovulation, it’s sometimes non-existent, and cycles are ranging from 24-36 days. Somethings not right. Went to the GP, and she said we’ve got to keep trying for at least a year, which is fine, I’m just wondering whether we go private or stuck with nhs.

We don’t qualify for funded IVF, as we already have one DD.

I have looked at all the private clinics nearby, but they all seem to jump to IVF in the first instance, rather than trying prescription drugs first.

Clinics dont jump to anything. They will follow whatever protocol you want them to follow.

However, IVF has a MUCH better success rate than medicated cycles and programmed sex, which is why it tends to be suggested.

And if you have a few failed attempts of those, you end up spending as much, if not more money, than with IVF.

But if thats what you want to try, talk to them and theyll help you!

@ASGIRC thank you so much, hopefully we’ll have some success in the next three months. Otherwise, we’ll pursue a clinic in Dec 🤞🏻
