Private IVF clinics in London

Can anyone recommend any good private IVF clinics in London, especially if you are in you 40s and have frozen embryos already. I will not need any further egg collections, just frozen transfers - I have 6 5 day embryos on ice. If you have issues with thin lining, this would be a bonus.

I am at my wits end with Barts and just want to see the back of them now, even though I still have an FET funded. Thanks.

@SadieBarts I am currently with Lister Fertility. My first cycle was cancelled due to I am a poor responder to medication, low AMH and 42 (43 next month). Their facility was good from the looks of it.

@ka3rine Thank you. I will take a look.

Highly recommend IVI Wimpole street. How are you getting on? My lining is decidedly thin and it’s so demoralising! Hope you’re doing ok.

Hi @amoobaa I had my final FET last week, waiting until the weekend to test. I pushed for this one, the consultants wanted to refer me by adding my to a waiting list for further investigation, to purely discussed medication as I have had all the tests. I demanded to try another while I waited, which they were reluctant to do. If it wasn't for one of the nurses persuading them, I would never have had the FET. My lining got to over 8mm and they were happy to proceed. Honestly, I really want this to stick notjust because I obviously want a child, but also so I can raise another massive complaint about the consultants. They are vile unemphatic humans at my hospital. All fingers crossed for you and your journey.

@SadieBarts How did it go? I had a miscarriage and I’m now in the lead up to another transfer but my lining is thin. Trying to find ways to thicken it… hope you’re doing ok :)

@amoobaa I'm sorry I haven't replied sooner. I took a bit of time out from here and other forums, was stressing me out. I'm so sorry to hear of your miscarriage, I can't even imagine how up setting that is.

My 2nd FET failed back in Sept and I am currently on cycle 5 of my 3rd FET attempt. I have had another abandoned this year as my lining was too thin, they put me on so much medication & I personally think I was on too much estrogen, as I was bleeding every day. They didn't seem to care. My lining was only 5mm on ovulation.

This time, I am taking letrozole for 4 days, they are trying to make me release 2 eggs. I did this naturally once & my lining was super thick over 9mm, however my progesterone was too low and I ended up bleeding after ovulation and lining shrank down to 6mm. They are basically trying to mimic my bodies response to 2 eggs. My scan isn't until Monday to see if it worked.

For some reason I am feeling super positive this time. I missed last months cycle as I was on a friends hen do last weekend and if it went ahead, I would have been in the 2ww at the hen - emotions couldnt cope. However, I ended up getting really bad covid, so would have been canx anyway so worked out well.

@SadieBarts Wow that’s a lot and yes, I completely get the need to have a time out.

I have my day6BB transfer on Thursday!

The weirdest thing happened… I was having cycles cancelled because of a thin lining (even after they pumped me full of drugs) and only reached just over 7mm with a hard core protocol including cancer drugs and viagra amongst many other things…

This time (and I don’t know what possessed me!) I asked for a natural cycle.

They thought I was mad as I barely reached the required lining even with all the drugs so it’s counterintuitive to have no drugs at all. But I wanted to know what my body would do without intervention.

The lining looked very thin at the second scan and they suggested cancelling. I asked for one more scan the next day and when they scanned me, they saw my lining the was thick enough and I was ready for my trigger shot and my bloods were right for starting progesterone pessaries a short time later. So I’m having my transfer this week.

The only thing I did differently was take maca root powder every day and l-arginine and l-citrulline twice a day. (Spelling!?)

I also lost some weight and also exercising. must be helping.

Oh and vitamin E but I did that before anyway.

And making sure my thyroid tests are perfect.

Good luck!!

@amoobaa That's amazing, I have everything crossed for you.

I had my day 11 scan yesterday and my lining is already 7.2mm so the transfer is going ahead. Taking Letrozole has made me release 3 follicles, crazy! My most dominant one is already 18mm. I had to test for LH surge last night and this morning, which I still haven't had, so they are calling me later today to confirm when to trigger. Expected transfer will be Monday. Not sure what grading mine is, I think the 5 I have left are all the same.

@SadieBarts how did it go? I had my beta bloods today, 490 something, almost 500 so I’m getting heartbeat scan booked for May 🤞🏼
hope you’re doing ok 🤗

SadieBarts · 23/04/2024 13:08

@amoobaa Congratulations. I have everything crossed for you to hear that little heart beat.

I had my FET today, got to wait 12 days before I test. Bet I crack and test on 10. Did you wait until correct day?

@SadieBarts Amazing! Have everything crossed for you also 🤞🏼 you’ll be getting you’re HCG test around about when I’m having my scan.

Every other time I’ve tested like crazy, sometimes a few times in one day. I made a decision not to touch a single test this time, until the day of the test at the clinic.

So I had my blood taken, then went to the loo to do my own test. I just couldn’t bear waiting for a call and not knowing anything, not even knowing if it hadn’t worked at all.

The test came back with a really strong line so I was able to put it out of my mind until the call. I honestly have to say the time went SO much faster when I didn’t test at all, until the day of the HCG blood one.

not to mention the money I saved!

Hope everything goes well and you feel really pregnant. That’s another reassuring thing for me, I feel really pregnant. That being said, some people get zero symptoms so you can never know for sure!

@amoobaa It's crazy how each cycle is diff. The first, my boobs were so sore, like unbearable. The 2nd, nothing. This time the meds have given me spots, I never get spots - not happy 😂 Please let me know how you get on.

I am trying not to symptom watch, so hard as progesterone side effects are same as pregnancy.
