hi, just wanted to rant really and know this is a great place to get my feelings and emotions out. We’ve been for our first fertility appointment today. Not had the news we wanted from my part. My OHs sperm results were fabulous!

Sperm count- 85 million
motility- 70!
morphology 3% but was advised that this alone wasn’t an issue with other results as great as they were!

me on the other hand have found out i don’t ovulate and are testing me for PCOS. I am so annoyed as we had tests done at the GPs before being able to be referred and not one of them told me about this! they said all my results were fine. I’ve had scans done at my local hospital which told me again everything was fine! i just feel pretty deflated today. The fertility clinic are going to start me on metformin to help me ovulate as well as helping me with my weight. Can anyone give me any insight on metformin, did they have positive results with it? did it help them lose weight aswell as ovulate? thanks.

I personally have not had success with merformin alone. It didn't regulate my periods, nor help me lose weight. The side effects were horrendous. It's taken me a full year for my body to adjust slightly to metformin .
Some people will respond to metformin and some won't. There's no way of really knowing until your on it, if it's working for you or if you need further help

@MoonlightDreamer I don’t really need help regulating my period, it’s usually about 32 days give or take a few days sometimes. Obviously i won’t just be using it to help me lose weight without a low carb diet as the dr advised me but she said it would help, as you say i know i won’t know how it will affect me without taking it, i just wanted to hear other people’s experiences. Just feel pretty low and deflated atm

@Jadelovely have you had your blood sugars tested? I'm assuming your insulin resistant ?
What were your progesterone levels on day 21?

Jadelovely · 10/08/2023 10:35

Yes last time I had them done my blood sugar was fine. They have taken more bloods though so that may have changed? she said my bloods were fine other than my progesterone which was at 11 and should be 30 or above 😭

Thought i’d update, after this appointment i had my tubes flushed and an internal scan to check for PCOS- everything was fine and healthy. Literally the month after i got pregnant naturally and i’m now 20 weeks and having a baby boy 💙

@Jadelovely ah the magic of tubal flushing .
When I had it I also fell pregnant following month magically after 18 years trying but miscarried . Had really regular periods after it too and ovulated on my own. Couldn't ever get pregnant again for the entire next year so went for ivf in October in the end up and I'm now 15 weeks

@MoonIightDreamer i know it’s crazy how many success stories have been heard of after having that done, i believe that’s what helped us. So sorry to hear about your miscarriage but i’m so glad that you’re finally pregnant and not far behind me! i’m due 9th of June and 20 weeks today. It took us two years in the end and that was torture so i cannot imagine 18 years, you deserve this so much!
