Hey everyone,

Im 41 years old and thinking of batching my embryos so I can get them pgta tested

Ive had a few failed fresh and frozen cycles with embryos graded 4ab and can’t bare to do another cycle and for it to fail.

Has anyone done this and has success ?

Im also thinking of doing duo stimulation so that I can create as many embryos as possible. If anyone has done this please feel free to let me know how it worked for you ?

@CR7 You’re right , it’s just one good egg that does it. I have to keep focusing on that. I have a cycle already paid for in my clinic , it was part of a package. I’m thinking to that cycle first and then do duo stim a few months later. I might getting lucky on that cycle. I’ve been taking supplements for over 6 months now. Hopefully my quality will have improved.

Thank you for answering all my questions, I really appreciate it : )

No problem at all. Amh only means how many and not quality. I am proof of that. Supplement will defo help your body and well being but sadly nothing can improve amh. Also ask for a progesterone test on transfer day. I had that checked on my third transfer and I was hugely lacking so I was given more drugs. Possibly made all the difference

Yes I will ask for the progesterone testing on transfer day : ) thank you : ) xx

@Wildstar I am also about to start duo stim in Alicante. As a guide we have estimated it will cost around £11k including medication, flights for two trips and accommodation for two separate weeks that we will need to be there. PGT-A testing is charged per embryo and we've estimated two in the above figure. Obviously may be more (hopefully) or less (hopefully not!).

It doesn't include flights and hotel for the separate trip for embryo transfer but that would be later so I will worry about that if and when we get there!! x

CR7 · 20/08/2023 11:46

@April623 @Wildstar

Mine was done in the U.K. at £11915 all in including the pgta. I also paid around £200 per embryo I sent for testing x

@April623 have to be honest and please don't think I'm being rude, I thought it would be quite a lot cheaper to go aboard and do it. But I do appreciate that it's a new treatment and includes all your travel etc.

When are you getting started? Very excited for you!! Xx

Hi @April623 @CR7

I’ve been quoted a lot more , from care. It’s
around 10 k for duo stim including FET. Then ICSI on top of around 1350 per egg retrieval. Drugs are around 2500 per cycle. Then pgta which is 1000, then each embryos around 300 for testing. I’m expecting to pay around 18-20k.

@CR7 @Wildstar I reckon there are cheaper places to do IVF than Spain but it wasn't entirely a cost driven decision for us and I chose my clinic for a number of reasons. For one, they offer a pregnancy guarantee scheme which we were interested in. We haven't signed up for it in the end but it may be an option if it doesn't work for us this time.

The duo stim is just under £7k with ICSI included as standard. The additional costs are meds, PGTA testing (£340/embryo), flights and accommodation. I think my medication is on the higher side price wise and we have chosen a nice hotel so there are definitely ways to make it cheaper.

My local clinics don't offer duo stim so there'd be a travel element for me even in the UK.

I have provisionally booked my baseline scan at my local clinic this Thursday so all being well with AF and my lining I'll be heading to Alicante early the following week ☀️ xx

My protocol is
1x Elonva 150 injection weekly
2x Utrogestan 100mg orally daily
Unsure about trigger shot, they will decide when I'm there.

@Wildstar @April623 I stand corrected ladies. Totally wrong. I have another invoice for the drugs. My mistake entirely. I just found it xx

Wildstar · 20/08/2023 15:45

@CR7 easily done, with paying out so much you forget how much you actually spend : ) xx

@Wildstar I've blanked it out 🫣🫣🫣

Wildstar · 20/08/2023 16:13

@CR7 i don’t blame you !! Hahahaha so we have one more cycle at care that is already paid for, only need to pay for drugs. See how that goes, based on results we will be heading towards duo stim. Having failed cycles I’ve had to plan ahead. Xxx

Understood. I had three collections, three transfers, a mock cycle, Hysteroscopy and Endemetrio 🫣

MrsC2019 · 22/08/2023 15:04

Hi ladies,

My wife and I just did this - I did two egg collections and she did one.

My first with PGTA was March 2023. 5 eggs, 3 fertilised, 3 blastocysts. Two normal after PGTA.

My wife did a retrieval in April. 7 eggs, 6 fertilised, 3 blastocysts. Two normal after PGTA.

Second retrieval for me this month. 10 eggs, 8 fertilised, 5 blastocysts. Two normal after PGTA.

We’re both 37 and wanted to hopefully reduce time to pregnancy through testing the embryos. I’m planning on doing the Endiome trio and natural killer cell testing before transfer. We’re with the Lister and did the three cycle embryo banking package (reduced cost due to purchasing three cycles). We had a very positive experience. They’re probably one of the more reasonable clinics for PGTA £500 per embryo.

All the best with your cycles

xx

CR7 · 22/08/2023 15:51

I did the endemetrio and found out I have a displaced implantation window. It definitely made all the difference for us.

Our pgta was 200£ per embryo x

Wildstar · 23/08/2023 14:41

@CR7 Im thinking of doing endometrio,
where did you do this ? Did you do this at care ? xx

CR7 · 23/08/2023 16:06

@Wildstar yes did it at care on the same day I did a Hysteroscopy xx

Hi @CR7 @hereshoping123

hope it’s ok piggy backing off this thread 🙃
Im currently in my second phase of a DuoStim plan. I have done 4 IVF cycles previously and this is my first DuoStim. I have a few questions I hope you can answer:

  • do you get less or more or the same number of eggs during the second stim? I stimmed for only 8 days, 8 eggs collected but only 4 mature - currently have 1 day6 5AB frozen and they are keeping the other 3 in cultivation one more day (This isnbeijg done in Prague, I have never heard of day7 embryos until today)
  • How soon will you get your period after the second stim?
  • can you do back to back DuoStim?

I am of course disappointed with the current outcome and hopeful the second stim would be more successful than the first. But also wondering if I should be prepared to do another round if finances permit.

Thanks in advance!

CR7 · 25/01/2024 13:07

More eggs during second stim; that’s the whole point of starting the drugs again as the follicles that were too small to drain are given an extra boost as well as the next round of follicles. Wishing you lots of luck. No idea about back to back as I only did it the once. I reckon you would defo need a break between one whole round of duo stim and another. I can’t remember exactly but I think I got my period about ten days after the second half of the duo stim xx
