Can sperm recover after steroid use?

Hi,
I suspect my partner may have used steroids before I met him approx 5 years ago.

His seamen analysis has low motility and morphology. Do you think this is a coincidence or do you think it could be to do with the steroid use (if he did indeed do them - I’m presuming he did!)

I have had two embryo transfers - first one didn’t work and the second one did work but I miscarried very early on. Just want all my eggs in a basket before I go for another cycle. Debating whether I should pay for the DNA Fragmentetion test, but suspect they would just tell him to take Impryl if he had high fragmentation - and he already takes Impryl.

Any input would be great!

I would suggest asking him to be honest about any past steroid use and then asking the clinic for their advice based on that?
We were asked in our initial consultations about drug use and my DH disclosed using weed when he was a teen and they didn’t bat an eyelid, they just like to have all the knowledge so they can give the best advice, they’re unlikely to judge for mistakes he may have made in the past.

Thank you very much. I’m going to ask him and phone the clinic. I suspect it would be embarrassing for him to admit but we need everything in order for our best chance.

I’ve been reading that it doesn’t take long at all for steroids to get out of your system and for fertility to go back to normal within about 6 months. Everything is a worry!!

@amkw I really don’t think the clinics judge on anything, they just prefer to know everything so they can give the best advice, I’m sure he’s not the only guy who’s taken steroids without thinking of the effects it could have when coming to try for a baby.
