@Hope0332 Ive only ever been sedated for egg collection. How come you have to be sedated for transfer?

Me, I was sedated for all my transfers (failed and successful one). Apparently I put up a fight during egg collection and had to be far more heavily sedated. The doctor said I wouldn’t do well with transfer without sedation and it would be easier for him and more comfortable for me. I have a severely tilted uterus. The successful one I could sort of hear myself moaning a little bit at one point but guess they gave me more drugs because don’t remember anything else. It’s not common but nothing to be worried about, they wouldn’t suggest sedation unless they thought it was beneficial to you, did mean I couldn’t go back to work straight after but it doesn’t affect transfer.

Hi

I had my first 2 transfers without sedation and the Dr wouldn't do the 3rd without it my cervix are completely blocked so they have to dilate them! I would really like to be awake though

Hi,

I only had sedation on my 2 collections which I was wary of as I didn’t want to feel out of it. Both times were mild sedation and I was able to talk throughout the whole process and remembered everything that happened. There was no pain felt just a little uncomfortableness. The worst part was the needle in my hand which left a nasty bruise for 2 weeks.

All 4 of my transfers were sedation free and absolutely fine, not a single thing was felt.

Good luck.

This is lovely to hear never had a successful ivf transfer and was worried it may be the sedation so hearing this is encouraging!
Thank you
