Big drop of eggs after retrieval??

Hiya, first IVF cycle and just had egg collection yesterday, we were thrilled to hear we had 15 eggs. But had a call from the lab this morning that only 2 have fertilised. Why have we lost so many?😔Has anyone else been in a similar situation? And have success stories??

Sadly this is not uncommon unfortunately. There could be lots of reasons. Are you able to ask if the eggs were mature xx

I would speak to your clinic for some answers. Just speculating.. Could be the eggs weren't mature enough? could be an egg or sperm quality issue? Were there any known sperm issues? It may be they suggest ICSI if you have to do another round...
However, you could still have success with 2 embryos :) it only takes one!
