Hi there, I am interested in knowing if anyone has information/experience on the connection between skin conditions and infertility.
Specifically, if anyone had mild chin acne and what did they do to deal with it?
Did anyone find skin conditions and ivf success to be related?
Any resources as in reading, doctors, or other practitioners who may be able to help?
The reasons I am asking is that in my experience I was only ever able to get pregnant when my skin was clear. Below is a bit of lengthy background although it's not necessary to read ... Any info would be appreciated!
I am 38 years old and have been trying to conceive for 5 years. In my mid-20s and thirties, I started to have occasional acne on my chin. Mostly, red pimples but sometimes painful cystic ones. I would usually have a break out around ovulation and then again just before my period came.
From the age of 33 I have been trying to conceive naturally and at 35 I started with my first IVF cycle. My first two cycles were a complete failure with no embryos.... I was told to use donor eggs. At the time I stumbled on "it starts with an egg" and followed it religiously for a few months. Then I gave another go to an IVF cycle and got to embryos to freeze (no transfer due to hydrosalpinx). A few months later something happened and I became pregnant naturally ( it was ectopic though).
At the same time, I something happened to my skin. It became flawless... For about a year. I went through two more cycles and stored 6 more embryos. Then I had surgery to remove the remaining tube and six months later I had my first transfer. About 3 months before my transfer, I have done a bit of traveling and got covid. My chin acne came back and despite me trying to keep up the perfect diet the acne is still there and the transfer failed. I just can't help and wonder if the two are linked.
Please if you have any insights please let me know....
