How many embryos did you have on day 5?

Just that really - how many embryos did you have on day 5 after IVF egg retrieval / do you have in storage from one round?

I know it’s different for everyone but just nice to have an idea of what the average is!

It is dependent on so many factors - you will get numbers ranging from 1 to double figures. Have you asked your clinic what they're expectations are for you?

@LauraIVF26 From my first collection I had 2 5 day embryos from 14 follicles collected. Second collection I had 5 5 day embryos from a collection of 8 follicles. Currently still have 3 frozen, one of which we are hoping to use in the next few weeks.
Both times my medication remained the same but outcome was different each time.
Good luck on your journey :)

I think this can vary massively from person to person! My first cycle I had two blastocysts and my second cycle I’ve got eight blastocysts (exact same protocol!). I’m 28 now and also have very high AMH so overstimulated both cycles. I was quite disappointed at only getting two the first cycle but the nurses said that is a really good number/most people only get 1/2? Not sure if they were just being nice! Think there are quite a lot of factors which can impact it plus it varies massively even between cycles.

At 39-40 we got 2 embryos in every round across 4 rounds, whether we got 3 eggs or 12/11/10! That’s clearly my good egg-loading capacity…

Numbers vary so much. I had 31 retrieved, of which 29 were mature and 27 fertilized. From this, we got 14 embryos. I was almost 30 at the time.

I got 6 embryos from 27 retrieved! Poor conversion rate due to PCOS. Also this was with mini ivf

Hi, it will vary dramatically depending on your individual circumstances. Me 39 low afc, low amh, high fsh, premature ovulation, 10 cycles got to collection 3 times;
2 eggs, 1 blast
3 eggs, 1 blast
2 eggs, 2 blast

I think everyone's right in that it's so changeable! These were from when I was 39:

23 collected, 22 mature, ending up with 8 blasts, although 5 of those were day 6 and 3 were day 5. We then had those PGT tested and 4 came back normal. The first transfer failed, second transfer gave us our daughter. Trying for a sibling now, 3rd embryo didn't implant and we're doing another transfer with the last embryo at the end of the month.

I feel like it's just totally a numbers game/roll of the dice.
