Anyone having treatment in Denmark? Wait for public, or pay for private?

Hi all,

I'm a just-turned 32-years old Brit living in Copenhagen, working my way through fertility treatment to TTC our first child. Diagnosis: unexplained infertility.

We've been TTC seriously (ovulation tests, etc) since last May, and have had 2 failed medicated IUIs using Gonal-F in April and May. This was at a private clinic, but paid for by the public sector (Danish thing). We like the clinic.

We've had all the blood tests, tube tests and sperm checks. Everything was fine/above 'normal'.

Our final IUI is next week. They've upped the Gonal-F dose to 75 this time, up from 62.5 after I showed a poor response last time, with just one follicle growing. We're not optimistic for the last IUI, but we must complete it to qualify for IVF in the public sector (we're already referred and on the waitlist, luckily). They can't do IVF for 'free' for us at the private clinic we're using for our IUIs, so we'd be switching to a public hospital's fertility clinic.

Now I have a decision to make about IVF. We are entitled to 3 public-funded IVF cycles - hurrah. But the wait list to start cycle 1 is around 5-6 months, and we're considering going private so we can begin immediately in July. My AMH is only 16pmol, and I want to give myself the best possible chances of being a mum.

Private IVF will cost around 6000 GBP for 3 cycles. We can afford it, but it's still quite a bit of money, especially as we can have it for free if we wait til December.

It's a long shot, but is anyone else having treatment in either the private or public sector in Denmark? I'm struggling to find any Danish forums that are active to discuss this in.

Even if you're not in Denmark, if you were in my position, would you choose public, or pay to go private and start IVF ASAP?

Thanks!
