32 low AMH and low fertilisation rates

Hi all, I’m on my second round of IVF (first was disaster) 7 eggs collected 6 mature 1 fertilised and transfers - day 2 and failed. AMH 10.

second round 14 eggs collected - received a call today to say only 4 have fertilised normally. both rounds ICSI due to male factor and I assume now egg quality may be an issue.

looking for stories of hope! Anyone else doing IVF in June 2023!!!! How are you doing? Let’s chat!

Sorry you're not having as many fertilising as hoped. I have low amh but it sounds like you're getting a lot of eggs. I assume you're taking coq10 to help with egg quality?
Can I ask how long a round takes?

Trying22 · 24/06/2023 19:30

@M425 i have heard good things about coq1, but I’m taking Procieve Max ( sold in Holland and Barrats, boot etc).

this round I was on medication for 12 days and trigged on day 13. But I was on the long protocol ( Buserelin for 12 days) prior to starting stims. So hence the better results.

I hope that answered the question.

Sorry to hear about your first try @Trying22. I'm on my first cycle - day 9 of stims - and also have low AMH at 4.4.

14 eggs sounds really good for low AMH and 4 fertilised is great! Don't been downbeat about that - with low AMH we'll never get the amount of eggs others get, but we only need 1 good one.

At my last scan on Friday I had 4 big follicles, 2 medium and a small one. My consultant has said she's hoping for 4-5 with the EC next week. We have no male factor but I'm guessing my egg quality is shocking as well as not having many - so we're doing ICSI too, to give the best possible chances.

When will you get an update on them?? Xx

Trying22 · 24/06/2023 19:45

@Lebe14 day 9 and 4 big follicles at last scan is great. All the best for EC , you must be really excited about it. Keep us posted about it ( if you like).

my next update will be Monday - day 3. I hope is goes well. I will post updates as this may help someone searching in the future.

@Trying22 fingers crossed for Monday. When will your transfer be if all good? Really hope this is your lucky cycle 🍀

Thank you - not getting my hopes up too much for this cycle as consultant recommended multi cycle but hoping I get at least 1 embryo to freeze and transfer later in the year.

Trying22 · 24/06/2023 20:16

@Lebe14 yes I was also recommended a multiple cycle , so it’s a freeze all collected plan for me.

next round will be about August / September

@Trying22 ahh I see. So you're doing multiple ECs to build up Frosties to then transfer? I.e. not transferring from your last EC straight away? How have the 4 that were fertilised got on?

I had my final scan today and triggering tonight for EC on Friday - eeek! Feeling quite nervous about the sedation. I now have 6 follicles that are looking a good size so consultant has said 6 eggs would be very good, but I do appreciate that some follicles may be empty and not all will fertilise. I'm really hoping we get at least 1 embryo. We're also freezing anything we get as we won't be transferring until later in the year. If we do get any embryos then at least we can do another EC in August time.

X

@Lebe14 its been a long wait, thanks for asking. Two out of the four continued to grow and have now been sent for genetic testing. Yes, building up and hopefully get some good embryos in total.

EC tomorrow- you much be so excited for this next stage. I wish you all the best, please get enough rest afterwards. Easier said than done - I know.

That's great news @Trying22 that you've got 2 for testing! Bet you're really pleased with that. Great you can build up your frosties too.

Quite nervous about tomorrow - the sedation and the outcome - but it's out of my control so let's see what it brings!

@Lebe14 I Hope your EC went well and you are feeling well and resting.

Thank you @Trying22

EC went well - the sedation was lovely haha. We got 4 eggs. So at the bottom of what we were hoping for. Mixed feelings of happiness that we at least got 4 but wish we had got 6. Waiting for the call this morning to see if any fertilised.

Slept a lot of yesterday and feel a little uncomfortable but not had much pain yet.

Xx

Lebe14 · 01/07/2023 11:07

Update this morning is that 2 of the 4 have fertilised through ICSI. Waiting game until Wednesday now, to see whether they reach the blastocyst stage. Fingers crossed we get something from the cycle x

Trying22 · 01/07/2023 12:29

@Lebe14 hehehe re sedation. 2 is great!!! It’s amazing how ICSI works!! Good to hear that you have not had much pain - unfortunately I’m always in pain after my EC as they collect my eggs transabdominally due to my large fibroids - so recovery is a little longer!

All the best for Wednesday - I am rooting for you ( and I’m sure others are too!) x

Thanks @Trying22 xx

Trying22 · 12/07/2023 07:56

Just a quick update for anyone seeing this in the future - 2 made it to blastocyst stage and both sent away for genetic testing. Results came back both “abnormal” ( 1 missing chromosome 16 and the other missing chromosome 21).

We are going for another egg collection next month as we have x2 more in our package. Let’s see how that goes. I will be sure to check in here as it may help someone searching in the future. Xx

Both 5BB on day 6.

Lebe14 · 12/07/2023 11:36

@Trying22 so sorry to hear that ☹️ how are you feeling about it?

Is your clinic going to change your protocol for next month at all? X

Trying22 · 12/07/2023 11:39

@Lebe14 i actually feel ok about it all. I decided that that regardless of the outcome- im going to choose to be happy. I will do all that I can and when it’s time to stop - I will stop.

got a follow up next week - so I will post an update here.

I hope you are well and collection well.

Glad you're feeling okay @Trying22 and taking a pragmatic approach. You can only do what you can and can't beat yourself up about it as it's totally out of your control.

Hope your follow up next week goes well x
