Hello, I have pcos and due to having high amh , they advised we will be doing a different protocol. They said to avoid ohss they would do an egg collection and then freeze the eggs, allow me a couple of months so things can settle down and then do a frozen embryo transfer.

Has anyone been through this? I'm not really sure what to expect. How does this protocol differ with regards to medication. Do we receive different kind of meds ? How many days will they be taken for and what is the process ?
how many months did you need to wait from egg collection until transfer?

Also if anyone could tell me , are you actually shown how to use your meds or what happens next? Dr said we would receive our consent forms in the post and then we'll start treatment . I'm nervous that I haven't been given enough information about how well receive our meds and when to take them. Will we receive an appointment before starting treatment ?

Any information anyone can provide to help me understand this process would be very much appreciated

Every case is different. I had freeze all due to my thin lining. I had to wait for my period to arrive after the egg collection and then a second proper bleed before I started again.

As I said drugs are different in every case. My protocol focussed around extra oestrogen and progesterone but that was tailored to my needs specifically

Once you receive your meds, they will have a consult with you, discussing each medication and will show you how to inject them and will give you a detailed schedule of when to take what. They wanted you to have the meds before this happens. This was the process in my clinic at least.

The meds will be identical for frozen or not, with the exception no progesterone after egg collection.

I had a freeze all due to PCO and OHSS. The only thing they changed, was dosage of stims, they changed it consistently throughout and monitored me a lot. I was on very low dosage. The trigger shot will be different, instead of Ovitrelle, I had Buserelin as Ovitrelle contains HCG that would cause the OHSS.

Process will be same really. Your body will need time to recover after. My 2nd collection I was in a lot of pain, bearable but still hurt as your ovaries are huge. I had over 100 follicles on both collections. Ended up with 34 collected on 1st and 28 collected on 2nd.

Let me know if you have any Qs :)
