Iv follicle scan- low amh

I’m day 7 of stims on a high dosage protocol- amh of 4.4 I’m only 30.
Iv had 5 pregnancies but only 1 live birth
Went for my follicle scan today and she couldn’t find my right ovary, she said it was hiding behind my bowel.
She found my left ovary and said I have 8 follicles so I was happy with that! She then found my right ovary and said it was empty!
She then showed me the paper results after and the 8 follicles on my left ovary- there is only 2 at 12mm and the rest are all 5mm
She’s upped my dosage of stims and I’m back again in 3 days

Has this happened to anyone else ?
Do you think my 2 at 12mm will make it to 18mm?
And could they possibly be some on my right ?!

I'm on my first cycle but behind you - on day 2 of high dosage stims (450 bemfola). I can't offer any experiences to help you but wanted to post as I also have low ovarian reserve and AMH is 4.4!! Im 35. On my baseline scan they found 4 follicles in each ovary. Not great but I wasn't expecting much given low reserve. Got my next scan on Tuesday.

I guess as they've increased your stims the smaller follicles could start to catch up over the next few days?? X

Hi there thanks for replying ! I was on 375 ovaleap and they have increased it to 450. So Friday night sat sun night is all 450 and I’m back Monday morning for another scan. I feel like iv lost hope in it all tbh.
I should be happy over the 2 follicles and hoping they grow to 17-22mm but I’m more worried that I only have 2 doesn’t give me much hope once retrieval has been done on getting to day 5!
the nurse who talked me through my results didn’t say much about the smaller follicles just said we are mainly looking at the 2 follicles!
I can’t get my head around the right ovary being completely empty as on my baseline I had like 6 or so on both sides !! But she did struggle finding my right ovary, asked me if I had surgery and had it removed !!! So I’m praying it was just hiding 😢

Hey - don't lose hope! As everyone says, you only need 1 good embryo for that BFP. Although I completely understand it would be much nicer to get more embryos out of an egg retrieval given how difficult it is both mentally and physically. Even if it's to freeze them. With our low AMH I guess we have to be prepared we are never going to get as many as folk with normal AMH.

I also wouldn't lose hope on the other ovary. If you had follicles there in the baseline then it could be that when you go back tomorrow they find them. Really odd they couldn't find it though... was it a junior staff member? Was your bladder fully emptied?

I felt absolutely drained yesterday - day after my first injection - not sure if it was related or not? I literally slept all day. Feeling a lot better today though - not so tired. Thanks for asking 😊 I'm really not looking forward to starting Fyremadel on Tuesday - heard it's a thicker needle, can sting a lot, and you need more 'commitment' with injecting it. I'm taking that in the morning so won't even have anyone around to help me if I can't do it.... How are you feeling on them?? X

I’m physically fine feeling slightly bloated today but that’s it. Mentally struggling !
for the tummy injection I use an ice pack on the area for 10 mins before takes the sting away!
all my scans at the clinic have been done by the same sonograph lady but this scan was done by a nurse. she was the same nurse that did our consent forms and mock transfer , my bladder was totally empty she just kept showing me that my bowel was over it on the scan but after getting me to move around abit she said she found it and the right ovary was empty. Still can’t get my head around it

Thanks for the injection advice. I've got an ice pack ready so will make sure I put it on before. Was told to really massage the area afterwards (with the Fyremadel that is).

I'm really sorry to hear that you're struggling.... its completely out of your control as to how many follicles grow so don't beat yourself up because of it - easier said than done, I know. You never know, tomorrow may show more on the ovary the nurse couldn't find. You just don't know. Is there anything you can do tonight to take your mind off it - nice meal out, favourite take away, a good film?

So I went for my scan today right ovary was found quickly and is totally empty. Left had 4 follicles and few small ones . They was at 17.9 17.8 11 and 10mm. So the 2 have grown. My lining is also at 11.5 so she said it’s good. So they have scheduled my retrieval for Wednesday as she said it gives me the best chance with them 2 big follicles 😬

@rubayr My right ovary is very similar. It’s hard to find when scanning, small and has nothing on it. Didn’t respond at all to stims, but managed to get 6 mature eggs from my left ovary.

Just wanted to let you know, you’re not alone. Having one ovary that does nothing is a bit of a mind f*ck. Fingers crossed for your retrieval.

@rubayr good luck for your retrieval today. I hope it goes okay. Let us know once you've recovered but my fingers are tightly crossed for you.

I had my second scan today and I have 3 big follicles on one ovary and 1 big, 1 medium, 1 small on the other. They're hoping that the medium and small will catch up over the next couple of days. No change to meds as currently on the highest dose. Have another scan on Friday and then on Monday. Consultant said to get 4 or 5 would be very good so fingers crossed. Likely to have the retrieval mid to end of next week.

Hi I had my retrieval early this morning and I’m home now on painkillers but absolutely fine ! They drained 4 follicles but 2 was empty so I had 2 eggs. No one told me the quality of the eggs which I’m annoyed with. I asked the nurse who discharged me, how will I know if the 2 are mature eggs, and she said when they do the fertilisation checks which is Friday!!!! She said someone from the lab will ring me Friday morning and if they have fertilised they will do a day 2 transfer as it’s best to get them back in their own environment. I came home very happy with my 2 eggs but iv been up and down since and it’s only been a few hours 😂 I’m very worried and nervous for what’s next.

oh 4/5 to aim for is brilliant ! Seems like you’re on your way there though,hopefully few more days of stims and then medium ones will get a kick up their butts to grow!

So so glad to hear it went well and they got 2 eggs - that's amazing, well done!!! Glad you're not feeling too bad too. Lots of rest today for you. Fingers crossed the fertilisation goes well and you get good news on Friday. Just need the 1 mature one for your transfer. So exciting!! So is your transfer likely to take place quite soon? Try not to feel down at all - you've done everything asked if you and done all you can 😊 Bet you're wishing Friday would come sooner.

Really hope the medium one will grow more over the next couple of days. 4-5 is best scenario so I'm hoping we get 3-4 but you never know. Just because there are follicles it doesn't necessarily mean they all have eggs I don't think? But again - I'm doing all I can that's in my control. I'm feeling okay on the stims. Have had a few days where I've been really tired and have a couple of aches / flutters in my ovaries. But other than that, I can't complain. The Fyremadel yesterday morning and today was definitely not as bad as I thought - need a lot more commitment but I've not had the stinging.

Congrats on your two eggs! Fingers crossed for the next few days!
I think the nurse has given you some incorrect information - if they collected them from you this morning, they will check for fertilisation tomorrow morning (day1) and a day2 transfer would be Friday. Hopefully that means you will get a phone call tomorrow morning which is sooner than Friday morning!

Well this is what I also thought but she seemed to say day 2 is when I hear. So if I hear tomorrow that’s a bonus and will make me feel much better but it is what it is ! Need to keep myself busy now tomorrow cos my mind is everywhere now 😂

She said for day 2 it’s graded a 4 which is perfect and has 4 even calls and everything is how it should be so it’s best to get it back in its normal environment. So I had transfer this morning !
iv come home and made myself a pineapple core smoothie with Pom juice and iv just eaten a tray of beetroot 😂
praying for a sticky baby ✨ today couldn’t of gone any better !

My scan went well, thank you. Growing nicely so going back again on Monday to see how they're doing. Finger crossed!!

Meds are starting to annoy me now though... how do they become more painful as time goes on? Have my first bruise from Fyremadel this morning.....!! Didn't do anything differently but guess i may have injected over somewhere I previously did. I have a small stomach so I'm running out of space.

I had my egg collection today and got 4. We were hoping for 4-6 so I'm somewhat pleased but also a bit gutted we didn't get the full 6 to give us a few more chances. Nothing more I could've done though. Waiting for the call tomorrow to let me know if any fertilised. Really hoping we get 1-2!!!

I’m ok thanks atm I’m happy in the world of being pregnant until proven otherwise, anxious it could break but trying to remain positive as hard as it is !! I’m ok this week as my hubby been off work so we’ve had lovely days off… worried for myself next week hahah

@rubayr so pleased to hear you've had a good week - week off doing nice with your husband sounds ideal. Bet time is going slowly but like you said, pregnant until proven otherwise and you're doing all you can - really hoping for a positive result for you.

The embryologist is calling me this morning to confirm if any fertilised and then it's a waiting game until Wednesday (day 5) to see if any reach the blastocyst stage. If I hear before Wednesday then likely it's not good news. Then whatever the result, my nurse will book in an appointment with my consultant to discuss next steps.

Thanks @rubayr - feel very nervous and hoping for a good outcome.

We're doing a freeze all cycle as not looking to transfer until later in the year. At least it means that if neither of the two eggs reach day 5 we could do another EC round, but think I'll wait until August / September time as not up for another round so soon. Give my body a rest!

Does feel weird going through all of this to not have a transfer right away, but I've also felt a lot less pressure. Like, I'm not sitting here thinking next week I could be having an embryo transferred and potentially finally being pregnant. It feels more like a process. Not sure if that makes any sense at all haha!
