Mild IVF timeline for scans & drugs - will be with ABC..

Hi,

I wondered if anyone could help with explaining mild IVF times with natural cycle timelines re when scans/drugs would be, I do get they vary with clinics, I'm going with ABC fertility.

I do have an appointment to speak with a nurse in a week's time so they will go through it with me. The reason I'm trying to get an idea how it works is because I have the chance of a 4 night break away (only a 2.5 hour drive away from clinic)which would fall across days 24-28 of my cycle.

My cycles usually last 26-28 days. Was thinking if scans or injections weren't needed till day 3 then I could likely do the get away, and if I had to cut it a day short it would still be worth it. the plan would be a relaxing break, nothing strenuous.

Any had experience of doing this just before starting a cycle and if they felt it was of value or just worried them re the unpredictability of menstrual cycles

Thanks in advance

@ttcsolomumtobe You won’t need to start your injections until day 2 of your AF - the clinic should give you a really handy guide to when you take injections (I am with Create who are same sister company to ABC and I got this when I had my nurse consultation. Also you wouldn’t need to go to the clinic until day 5/6 for your first scan so you could take your injections with you on your trip (they advise a cool bag for a long journey) if you thought day 2 might be when you are away. I would ask your nurse about the exact situation of your trip & they will help. Good luck!

Thank you for your swift reply, so would definitely be fine for scans.

Regarding the injections do they have to be taken at a certain time in the day?

May I ask, regarding egg collections and scans, how does it work if it was to fall on a weekend? Or do they give additional drugs to delay it to the Monday?

Thanks again x

@ttcsolomumtobe not a problem, I had so many questions when I first started so happy to try & help! They open at the weekends for scans & egg collections only (no routine appointments or consultation at the weekend though) so that shouldn’t be an issue
I have had scans on a weekend before. My egg collection fell on a week day but I saw ladies go in for them at the weekend when I was there for a scan x

Oh and re injections - the nurse will tell you. I was on gonal f and had I take it between 6-9pm but ideally the same time everyday x

Thank you so much again, I've seen others mention about some clinics not doing egg collection on a weekend and it was one of my concerns so was going to ask.

I have found ABC good with supplying information so far so hopefully my guide will make it all clearer when I get it after my final consultation x

Glad to help, a list of questions for them always a good idea for me too whenever I have a consultation. Good luck!
