no good blastocysts on day 5

hi,

this was our First IVF cycle (mild IVF with ICSI). 5 eggs were retrieved, 4 fertilised and were doing great until day 3 but on transfer day 5, they were all at compacting morula stage. the next day embryologist called and said none of the them made it to good blastocysts. Two of them made it to poor blastocysts unfit for freezing. The doctor transferred day 5 morula although I feel pessimistic about it, based on whatever I've read. I'm 37, normal bmi, eat very healthy, been taking all kinds of supplements since six months, AMH is 10.6 and AFC 11, lower than average for my age but doctors have said it's not too low. I had one chemical pregnancy in second month of trying but nothing since then, it's been a year since we started trying. I'm devastated by this result and just wondering what can I hope for future. My partner's SA results are all fine. motility - 68%, morphology -4%. I'd appreciate any insights. Thanks a lot!

@Ikigai22 I don't I'm afraid as I'm not from the area. My first clinic was TFP Oxford and second BCRM. I was told by the BCRM though that due to the down regulation that follicles should grow at a better rate together compared to the short protocol which should help you if you've had a dominant follicle. Has you clinic not recommended the long protocol for you?

Hi, I thought I should update as this might help others. We had a second ICSI cycle at Evewell Hammersmith and had retrieval on 29th January. 8 eggs were retrieved, 6 mature and 5 were fertilised. 5 blastocysts (2day 5, 2day6 and 1day 7) are created of varying qualities but all suitable for genetic testing. Best embryo is a 3pn but it's the best looking one and AA, so hoping it'll be normal. We are so grateful and still can't quite believe it. There's still a long way to go but this result makes us hopeful for the future and that's what we need at the moment. The first cycle at Create Wimbledon in June 2023 and this one at Evewell Hammersmith are so different. Last week was so stressful with having flashbacks to June 2023 and feeling like it would be the same result as last time but again, so grateful for the result this time. It was a long agonist protocol, with Buserelin and oestrogen priming a week after ovulation in previous cycle. During the cycle I was on dexamethasone, gonal f, Pergoveris and Gonasi 10,000iu trigger. Also, I was on 25 days of HGH and had PRP on 28th October in Turkey. Just before prp, my AFC was 7 and after in Dec, it was 9. For baseline scan in Jan, it was 10. I was also on DHEA so it could have been that or just normal variation in AFC. My AMH reduced to 4.73 and I did panic momentarily about it. Please feel free to ask me any questions. Thanks for your support through your messages last time.
