Sorry it’s a long one!

Have I gone ott?

Bit of background… at the start of 2020 we started our ttc journey. I stopped taking the pill (I had been on the implant for 6 years before taking the pill for a few months) but didn’t get my period for 4 month. Blood tests revealed I had high prolactin levels so I was given cabergoline. The cabergoline eventually worked and I got my period back. I started taking various supplements incl. Vits B, C, D & E but unfortunately in Dec ‘21 I had a missed miscarriage. When I found i was pregnant in the November, I stopped the vitamins and cabergoline as instructed, and didn’t restart it after the MC (again, as instructed). Eventually my period tapered off again, and my cycles were lasting 60+ days.
I was sent for an MRI, and found to have a benign pituitary tumour which was causing the high prolactin levels, so went back on the cabergoline, this was around April ‘22.

Since then, I’ve had very varied cycle lengths from 32 - 48 days with ovulation (according to clearblue digital opks) usually occurring around CD 20. Low sex drive and very little CM.

This cycle I decided to change it up, and I’ve started taking all sorts of supplements, and this is where I may be going ott:

From the last day of my period I’ve taken:
•Cabergoline
•Vitamin B Complex
•Vitamin C
•Vitamin D3
•Vitamin E
•Electrolyte Plus
•Oméga 3
•Maca Root
•Ashwagandha

Some of these are multiple tablets a day, so I’m up to 13 tablets some days.

Somethings working, as I hit peak yesterday on CD13, but I was low CD12. So I think I missed an estrogen surge.
EGCM that I’ve never experienced before too.

I’ve stopped taking some of the ‘unsafe to take during pregnancy’ supplements now I’m ovulating but I’m unsure if taking this many to begin with is too much?
Anxiety and wanting a baby so much may have made me a little ott.

Any thoughts would be massively appreciated!
x

Hi,

Regarding suppliments I would recommend reading the "it starts with an egg book" for a better understanding, I know this is the typical reply but it is informative.

Im taking vitamin C,D,E,iron, magnesium, folic acid, Coenzyme Q10 (recently realised I'm taking a fairly low dose so increased it)

Regarding the ovulation test kits, which is the main reason I wanted to reply, it sounds like you could have a small peak window, mind didn't show for very long on clearblues and could be missed if I only tested once a day. Aslong see what your test says about first morning urine, some say use it others say second urine. I would check daily after your period stops and when you start to see an increase test twice a day, fairly spaced out.

Also if you numbers are going up and then the next test drops down it would be worth considering still testing, some people's can fluctuate due to the amount they drink during the day etc, others can have a small drop before a sudden rise. Maybe have a look into ovulation patterns.

A peak is to tell you that you are due to ovulate, estimated 24-48 hours after peak so if you worry you may have missed it you would still have time to get some trying in ☺️

Hope this helps and good luck x

@Sleighbells0625 hi I also have a microprolactinoma. Has your endocrinologist done a progesterone blood test to check you are actually ovulating? I was getting positive opks but not actually ovulating and they needed to adjust my dosage further

Can I ask whether you were tracking your BBT?
I am getting positive OPKs and temp rises but luteal phase is 8 days have just been told high prolactin waiting for meds

@mrsmesx no, I only found out when they did a day 21 blood test and my progesterone was under 30 which indicates no ovulation. They adjusted my doseage and I now ovulate
