Hi, I am going through my 2nd ivf cycle and took a test yesterday morning and this morning at 7.5 & 8.5 days past 5 day transfer and are both very faint. I’m panicking this is a chemical as it isn’t getting darker at all. Has anybody else had a similar situation and what was the outcome?x

Hi, I completely understand how hard it is testing positive but not being able to fully get excited about it due to the line being quite faint. I can only speak from experience however I had a chemical pregnancy back in Feb. My lines started off quite faint but then started to progress quite well and my beta was doubling every two days but not going much more above that level. But I also had sharp pain, cramping and bleeding even though the line and bloods kept progressing.

Also we are meant to check it with two days between as it takes about 48 hours for hormone levels to i news’s significantly for it to show up on the test specially in very early pregnancy.

I don’t think it means it’s a chemical at all at this stage but just see how it’s progressing tomorrow and Wednesday. I do hope your line gets much darker in no time and it’s a happy and healthy pregnancy ❤️

@JGIVF2023 The second image is my day 8 & 9dp5dt and the first image is how it had progressed. As you can see my initial lines are probably even fainter but even with those they can progress quite well I believe

Thank you so much, I’m so sorry it didn’t work out for you, I’m hopeful it’ll get darker but it’s so frightening, my first transfer I didn’t get anything at all so I thought to get a positive would have me jumping for joy but with it being so faint it did nothing but create torment and worry! What are your plans moving forward?x

UPDATE - todays test is no darker, my official test day (13dp5dt) is this Thursday, I’m convinced there’s something wrong, surely it should be darker by now 😭

@JGIVF2023 hi I'm 7dp5dt on my 3rd transfer, first resulted in a chemical pregnancy, second was a negative I'm in the same position as you I'm so scared to test yet just incase line is not there or really faint. Have you been having any symptoms etc. I have had like period pains all the way through from 3dp xx

JGIVF2023 · 06/06/2023 09:20

@Pippamorgan hi! I’d imagine your period pains are a really good sign of implantation! I haven’t really had anything, I’ve had tiny little twinges and a bit of cramping from about 6/7dpt, I’m breaking out and absolutely starving all the time but that’s probably the hormones. I’ve tested again this morning and still showing a faint positive on line tests but negative on a digital but when I’ve spoken to my clinic this morning they’ve told me digitals can take longer to show, plus they don’t offer HCG tests so as long as I’m showing some positive to keep taking my medication, my official test date is Thursday 🫣 what were your symptoms and tests like on your chemical?xx

@JGIVF2023 I had really bad cramps on my chemical, no bleeding but think that was down to the progestrone my tests were really faint, I did a digital on otd and said pregnant 1-2 weeks but my clinic told me to test again 2 days later as my tests were so faint, when testing again it ended up a negative.

Everyone's experiences are so different so it's hard to judge symptoms you can get really late implanters which show faint tests so your not out just yet. Just keep thinking positive I know it's hard to do but there is always hope I wish you all the best for Thursday xx

Thank you so much I will certainly let you know how it turns out 🥰 whats your plan? Are you waiting until your otd?xx

I’m thinking of getting the hcg strips, how long had you held your bladder before testing with them?xx

OP posts:
Pippamorgan · 06/06/2023 18:03

@JGIVF2023 I should have done it first thing this morning but done it Half way through the afternoon so wasn't first wee of the day as they say. The strips are good they show from 25ml of hcg so really early tests xx

JGIVF2023 · 06/06/2023 18:14

@Pippamorgan Congratulations!! You must be thrilled! 🥰please keep in touch and let me know you it goes xx
