Abnormal Semen Analysis

My husband (35) and I (33) are a same-sex male couple about to begin our IVF journey with donor eggs+surrogate. The issue is that he had an abnormal semen analysis:

Concentration: 114 million (normal > 15 million)
Motile: 74% (normal > 40%)
Normal Morphology: 3% (normal >=4)

Everything else looked normal but those are the three main factors I’ve learned contribute to male fertility.

Can anyone else comment on what the chances of our success rate with IVF will be? Our doctor hasn’t talked to us yet which sucks because we have no clue what he’ll say/want to do next.

For the record I’d really prefer not to use my sperm given a significant family history of cancer.

Thanks for your help!

Two out of the three markers are way above normal. I doubt there will be too much concern re morphology being a bit low. They may recommend you use ICSI to maximise your chances. Good luck!

Thanks for your response! Apparently our nurse only reaches out when results are abnormal and from what my clinical coordinator said they don’t seem concerned. I guess if we were trying to conceive naturally it might’ve been a different case at least from what I’ve read online.

I will definitely bring up ICSI at our next med appointment to see what their opinion on it is.

Thanks again! 😀
