4th fail at Letrozole, what next?

Morning all, just had a lovely bfn this morning on our 4th go of Letrozole. We have two more rounds left (double dose) not monitored and not feeling hopeful!

What's the next steps if Letrozole fails? We tried ivf fresh transfer at Xmas didn't work so anything to avoid ivf again!

Frustrating! Confused

I'm sorry to hear this. It seems slightly odd to have gone back to Letrozole if you'd already made the step to IVF? When you say your fresh transfer didn't work, did you have an embryo transferred? Although sad and frustrating, IVF often takes several transfers for success. I think the average is 3 so a BFN after 1 is very common. Probably best to speak with your clinic and see what their thoughts are.

@FETmum i wouldn’t write off letrozole just yet. I’ve just got a BFP after the 5th round. It was also my 1st unmonitored round and I just assumed it wouldn’t work.
I was told I’d need 3 rounds of injectables + IUI if letrozole failed and then IVF if everything else fails.

@SErunner hey, apologies I should have added that we did have success with ivf in 2019 with DD. From that same batch we had two FETS last year & one turned out to be a MC. We gave ivf a second go at Xmas & had a fresh transfer which didn't work & there was nothing to freeze. We didn't fancy paying for another round so our consultant suggested Letrozole. Trying to have #2. I do have more rounds left but just wanted to know if there were other avenues to take other than ivf.

@FETmum Thank you! I’d use up letrozole and look into gonadotropins if that doesn’t work. I don’t know what’s your fertility issue, but mine was anovulation caused by PCOS, so there were quite a few things I could try before moving on to IVF.

@WafflesNCream how are you getting on with the pregnancy etc? We're giving this 5th go a real good shot, quite literally Grin
