Hi guys

been advised I’ll need to pay for a general for egg collection due to hidden ovary , had lots of surgeries before but I’ve always been home in twenty minutes this time it’s a two hour journey

how did you feel after the manipulation under general to find ovary ??

scared I’ll be in a lot of pain during the car journey , so any advice or experiences be amazing

thanks in advance x

I didn't have any anaesthetic for egg collection. They gave me fentanyl which made me dizzy and then sick afterwards but next time round I wouldn't do any drugs, didn't feel anything other than discomft. I did have my usual vasovagal reaction afterwards but that's due to having to starve for more than 12 hours and the upset and stress or the situation.

Didn't feel anything after general. Was able to go out to lunch right after. You won't be able to drive after the surgery though

I’ve had all 3 rounds of ivf egg collection under sedation-the second round I could feel it all of the way through which was really painful-I have a hidden ovary too. The other two rounds I was fine.

I’ve had two procedures relating to gynaecology under a general in the last year and they were brilliant! I woke up feeling great, very very chatty and hungry 😄
I’ll be having my next egg collection abroad and they do it under general as standard. You’ll honestly be fine, over and done with in a flash.

You may feel odd/out if it for a few days afterwards so I’d factor that in and take it easy. Good luck ☺️

I’ve had many surgeries but never a long car journey after that is what’s worrying me . Wish I could just have it done at my regular clinic but they don’t have the theatre setting available for a general

I've had a long journey after egg collection before, I just had a blanket over me and tried to stay cosy.
You'll be able to take painkillers if you need them.
If you are mega stressed could you book a hotel near your clinic for after. I don't think it's necessary but if it would help you feel better go for it, anything to reduce some of the stress.
