Testosterone

Just about to start first round of IVF. I have just turned 36 and no require IVF due to being in same sex marriage.

My amh is low at 3.9 (it halved in 6 months) my fsh a little high at 11.6 and my GP has stated that my testosterone level is below 1.0 (I don't have any symptoms of low testosterone and all other tests have been fine except this one which was taken in the PM)

All in all it is a bleak picture. Anyone any success with such poor numbers?

My first round of ivf I was 34 with an amh of 5.4pmol and fsh of around 10. We also had (severe) male factor infertility. That round was unsuccessful (6 eggs and transferred the only 2 looking good on day 3).
the next round I got 10 eggs, 1 made it to day 5 and was successful.

3 years later I didn’t retest my amh but it must have dropped significantly and my follicle count was lower. I got 4 eggs, 1 made it to day 5 and was successful.

low amh means you’ll need a high dose of drugs to help stimulation and of course means less eggs to play with - but the old cliche of ‘it only takes 1’ is true.

you have age on your side so the quality of your eggs should still be quite good despite the low amh.

Best of luck - it’s an emotionally draining process and I’m sorry you have to go through it. But you really do have every chance xx

Thanks so much for this reply, it is the positivity I needed to hear as it really is such a draining process. Thanks again

@Bristolgal567 I'm 42. My amh is 2. Finally got a positive on my third transfer. I went with duo stim with pgta to ensure the quality was there x
