Feeling depressed after first stims scan

First round of ICSI, on day 5 of stims, short protocol due to amh which is normal for my age (36) but at lower end. Had my first stims scan this morning. The nurse could only see 7 follicles across both ovaries, although one of the ovaries was very hard to see at all. They’ve upped my dose as not measuring quite where they would like. She did say there might be some other follicles too small to see. She was positive and egg collection isn’t for another 7-8 days but I’ve come away feeling really upset and like it’s not working as it should. 7 follicles seems like such a small amount and I don’t know whether I should be expecting to see more at the next scan or whether 7 is basically as good as it’s gets for this round?

Hi @Suzie345789, it doesn't mean you won't get good blastocysts from 7 follicles. I got 7 eggs at egg collection and 6 went into become good and top quality blastocysts. First frozen transfer worked and I'm 30 weeks pregnant as of Saturday now :) Hopefully they're all a similar size and mature at a similar rate and you'll get some mature eggs from your collection, fingers crossed for you! Sometimes they get more than they expected too, best of luck x

Hi @Suzie345789 I felt similarly - only had 7 at baseline, 5 at first scan, by the time we got to trigger it was looking like 6-7.

But they got 15 eggs! I have no idea how or why the difference in numbers. But then only 3 fertilised. But then another did later in the day and we ended up with 4 decent blastocysts.

It's so impossible to predict how things will go but you're doing absolutely fine with 7.
