Urine test second line after an hour

I'm 8dp5dt and took home urine tests yesterday and today. Both came up stark white after a few minutes, so I put them away. The instructions say to disregard any change in results after 5 minutes. However, I went off to a meeting for around an hour and had a look at the tests again, and both have faint pink lines. I don't know which one is today's.

I feel silly asking, but has this happened to anyone else and what was the outcome? I don't want any false hope here - I'm just curious. I've had so much bad luck in my 7 IVF cycles that I'm fully expecting bad news, but this test has gotten me wondering. My OTD is tomorrow.

@MeadowMouse hi yes mine have often gone 2 lines hours later hence there is a reason they say you must read after 3 mins or 5 mins or whatever the packet says and then throw them away.

@MeadowMouse sorry my msg may have been a bit blunt. Have you made sure you used first urine of the day? You have to follow the exact instructions to the pack u are using as they can all be slightly different and if you follow them exactly they are more accurate. They are only accurate in the specified time frame. Sorry you are going through this.

That definitely looks positive to me Smile

@Flowerlover010 Thanks for your reply. Blunt is what I'm after 🙂 So I take it that your tests appeared positive after a while, but you definitely weren't pregnant?

I haven't seen this on my own tests before, and I've had a lot of negatives, so that's why I'm perplexed. I'll update tomorrow after my blood test.

@FETmum Right, it's frustrating! I can't find a definitive view online about whether evaporation lines can have pink dye. I'll take it with a grain of salt until results tomorrow. I'm cynical because this was a poor quality embryo and I've had cramps, whereas my only BFP was symptomless.

@MeadowMouse sounds like you have a very level head. Yes unfortunately i wasnt pregnant. My poor husband got his hopes up when he saw it and i said no the test is old now and isnt correct and i was right. I will say however urine ones are not 100% accurate anyway and theres so many factors of how they can be wrong so blood test is what docs prefer as this definitely confirms it.

@FETmum @Flowerlover010 Well I just had the call back with the results of my blood test, and it is positive. Who knows about the home tests, but there's the answer! Very cautiously optimistic. After 2-3 years of treatment, I'm exhausted!

And for the record, symptoms are completely opposite from the last positive, so what they say is true.

@MeadowMouse yes! Thats great news! Congratulations! Blood test is aways best. Fingers crossed for a smooth and healthy pregnancy

FETmum · 03/05/2023 15:24

Amazing! Massive congratulations! Just finished my 3rd dose of Letrozole awaiting for that BFP for baby no2! Wishing you all the very best. Great news.

MeadowMouse · 03/05/2023 15:34

@FETmum Thanks and good luck to you! This would be my first, as last BFP ended in MC. Hoping for the best.

@Flowerlover010 Thank you! Your advice was very helpful.

Now I'm just waiting for my partner to ring back so I can give him the news. It's his birthday tomorrow, so I'm extra relieved.
