FET after breastfeeding

Hello

We are just starting a FET after having our daughter, who was another FET from the same round, back in December 2021.

I’ve breastfed her up until last week, so a good 16 months. My cycles came back regularly around 6 months ago, but I’ve read that breastfeeding can mean higher prolactin levels which can then have an effect on pregnancy.
Has anyone had a successful FET having recently given up breastfeeding or even whilst breastfeeding?

I feel anxious about it, and I know part of that is because we are back to the whirlwind that is IVF but I just want to make sure we’re giving our little frostie the best possible chance. Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

Hi @Raggity19
I just found your post and I'm guessing it's probably too late now but there is a very useful Facebook group Breastfeeding Mums undergoing Fertility Treatment/IVF where several women share their success stories. It's a bit tedious to join as there's lots of info to read through, but I found it very useful even though I stopped breastfeeding and we're still waiting for a FET!

@beachbum85 thanks so much for your response! We went ahead with the FET but I found that my daughter weaned naturally pretty quickly, unsure if the medication affected my supply. Unfortunately our FET was unsuccessful ☹️ but I don’t think it was related to the breastfeeding as my prolactin levels were in the normal range!

Wishing you lots of luck with your FET 😄

Hi @Raggity19 , I'm glad to hear that weaning was pretty straghtforward, but I'm so sorry your FET didn't work out 😢 Wishing you the very best of luck if you'll be trying another FET!
